Re: How effective is Peel and Stick for total re-roof ?

Your fortunate. With my southern exposure, I know the ultra white paint of Lanco is going to give me some good benefit. Im going to examine it at Home DePot this weekend and start the project around APril.

Yes, im wanting to go over my existing roof with Lanco, before it gets any worse. Its not in bad shape yet, but, I like the idea of coating it now plus the lower temperature roof surface . Ill contact Lanco. Thanks for your help Aaron.

Re: How effective is Peel and Stick for total re-roof ?

Aaron, On the back of the Elastomeric Paint can, its says not to be used on asphalt. Although I think that Silver something product can be that Lowes sells. Did you ever get around to doing your solar water heater ? Ive got the plans drawn up for mine and will start it in the spring. Im swapping out...

Re: potential for pipe freeze-help!

Make sure your exposed pipes in your Pump House (if you have a Well) are insulated ... preferably with a heat tape underneath . Same for the cold water riser pipe that comes up out of the ground under your MH then into the underbelly . If still worried...since its a predicted 2 day hard freeze for y...

How effective is Peel and Stick for total re-roof ?

On my MH, I have asphalt shingles and am getting close to needed a new roof. I see Peel and Stick (from Lowes store) comes in 33" widths x 50' long...and was contemplating doing the whole roof with it , then maybe applying White Elastomeric Paint over the top. Whats your thoughts on this idea ,...

Gary, Something tells me that Ill have plenty of heat absorbtion thru the copper roll , when you consider the writeup in the Build-it Solar article of a guy who used just black polyethylene 3/4" coiled pipe on the top of his garage and measured an exit temp. as high as 150 f. + from running col...

Gary, Thanks for the tips. Even if i cant solder the copper roll to the backplate, I think its still going to get extremely hot being painted flat black. Since i want a very slow flow of water thru the copper roll, im now thinking of going with 1/2" OD copper instead of 3/4" OD . But ill i...

Re: RE: Need a serious capacity Storage Tank for solar hot w

Hi, If you want to get both space heating and domestic water heating from solar, and you live in a cold climate, it takes a lot of collector area. Most solar domestic water heating systems do quite well in the summer, but don't meet the full domestic hot water needs in the winter, let along providi...

RE: going solar

Great. Your payback should be good. Keep us posted as to the installation they performed, and, the electrical savings. Please post the specific system they will be putting in so we can take a closer look at it. Thanks.

True. Being that it designed for a car's relatively low flow water pump, it wouldn't require much of an electric pump to circulate through it. And you could hook it up with heater hose too. Sounds simple enough to me. You might be on to something. I guess id have to get a small 115-12 vdc Converter...

Looks promising, but it is very small. About 9-1/2" x 6-1/2". True..its very small, BUT its big on capacity : 28,000 btus (probably measured at 190 f water temp)...but even so...at 160 f. water temp, it should be enough to warm a 15x24' room that has an insulated drop ceiling, from 5 - 10...

P.S. Im at Starbucks right now, so, ill swing into Farmers Supply. Thanks. I went there, and saw a horizontal 96 gallon white steel Storage Tank that looks good, for $349. Has two 2" threaded bungs on the top. Would work out good burying it under my Mobile, directly under my current Water Heat...
