how do I clean the A coil?

I have a propane Duo Therm model #717060-001 furnance with an A coil in the bottom. I want to clean the A coil. The A coil is located behind a metal plate which is secured by screws. Through the plate is a hole with two copper pipes and one rubber hose. The copper pipes are threaded. The pipes and t...

I have a duo therm modle#717060-001 furnce. It's a propane furnace. I heard it fire up and the blower come on for 30 seconds or so then it just conked out. Seconds later I smelled a funny smell. I turned it off, checked to make sure it was not on fire and put my hand on top of the blower. It was hot...

drywall

My trailer is made of 2x4 studs. I took down the old wood panel now I want to put up drywall. Somebody told me that 1/2" drywall may be to much. I said no way. What do you people think?

RE: Facia Caulking - tried everything

If your fascia board is made out of fibrous material your problem is moisture. Remove the boards and seal the the fibers with a primer/ sealer or latex paint.

windows

Just brought some used factory standard aluminium trailer windows for my place. Not the greatest but a big step up from the 1979 leaky aluminium ones in there now. My question is caulk or putty tape? Caulk has always worked great but messy. Tape only seems to work with a bead of caulk. These windows...

RE: Front Door Frame

raise the door head and put in a $130 steel door complete with wood jamb like I did. Or really invest and buy a $60 vinyl cellulose jamb kit. Wood will rot but that stuff won't.

If you are afraid the wall will some day sink, before you box in your opening, nail a piece of flooring to the bottom of the soleplate and double up your headers.

RE: exterior doors

Just saw that Lowes sells a anti-brake-in kit. It has a 48" long steel jamb liner which slips over the jambs. The video shows that it works fine on damaged jambs. Might take a look at it.

RE: exterior doors

Steel doors are cheap and can be found in the width I need for about a $100. I can cut one down to length with a circular saw no problem. My question is how thick are the jambs? Two inches? I did not want to tare mine apart just to find out that the jambs are one inch thick.

exterior doors

Currently, I have a combination door. The door itself is trashed and the recess in the fiberboard jamb for the lock set is gone. The price of a exterior prehung door is way out of my budget. I was thinking about using a jamb kit. Lowes sells a two inch thick jamb kit that will fit my 2x4 walls for a...

subfloor repair

I have a 1979 single wide with a good amount of rotted particle board sub flooring(mainly under the windows), which needs repairing. I am going to repair it with 3x4 T&G OSB. Instead of framing the opening up the standard way, with joist hanger then putting edge support in between, I was thinkin...

I have a mobile home with a flat ceiling which has the standard popcorn finish. Any suggestion on what to do to make it look like that of a stand stick-build.
