RE: Follow up Bath Wall Problem

It's possible that the short wall behind the wall board isn't straight. I don't think 1/2 inch wall board will bend that much and not be broken.
There should be nails/screws where each stud runs vertical in the wall. 930

RE: Follow up Bath Wall Problem

It might be that the wallboard is broken from the back side, can't tell exactly from picture. If there isn't a stud behind that piece of board(in the middle) it may be the reason for the breakage. If you don't like the way it looks and can repair it, do so. If not find a handy person to help. 930

Swamp cooler fixed

Hello all, I finished rewiring the swamp cooler today. I came home from work and it was 88 degrees 20 % humidity inside. I wired up everything, I think when the new roof was put on they crudely removed all the wiring.
Well it's now 12 degrees cooler with 10% more humidity, not to bad.

RE: Master Bath Buldge

Do you know if the electric switch box is attached to a stud or does the switch have the ears that grip the paneling when tightened?

You might be able to pull the switch out of the wall if it's the second type and use a flashlight to see any odd wood workings.

Only way to find out what's behind the bow area is to carefully remove the wallboard.

RE: Resurfacing a bathroom sink top

I would want a surface that was totally waterproof for the sink area. Even with the primer, paint and clear coat it might not be. Send a picture when you finish. 930

RE: ceiling repair/ swamp cooler

This is my first experience with a swamp cooler, but minus the new homes built the rest are this type of A/C in New Mexico. We have 20% or less humidity. I'm told you need to have windows open to aid in the cooling process though. I still need to rewire the conections to the motor and pump, then add...

RE: Prep for Roof Replacement

Usually when replacing a roof this is the basic process. Not exactly sure about the metal roof. 1. Remove ALL old shingles and tar paper. 2. Inspect plywood and replace as needed. New drip edging, decide if you're going to replace the vents for bathrooms, chimney, water heater etc. 3. New tar paper ...

replacing a water heater

Hello, I need to replace my gas water heater and the floor under it. I looked at new water heaters and the box for the MH heater said a RHEEM roof jack was needed? Thought about an electric model also, but the stove and furnance are gas also. Must a MH use a side water inlet? Does the electrc model ...
