Re: Moisture Barrier trying to make sense of it

We worked on many ranch style houses (starting in the 80s mind you),my old boss said the walls got vapor barrier(heavy plastic) behind sheetrock and tyvek behind the outer wall sheeting but nothing on the ceiling so the house could slowly breathe through the ceiling,,his words, not mine,I'm mainly ju...

Re: Heating the underside of Single wide

I agree with Greg S. but if you are intent on heating the space then I agree with "regular" Greg with only a couple small changes-- I assume it is a straight slope, not having any quick steps to the ground underneath. If it is 3.5' off the ground midpoint then there is 3332 cubic feet to he...

Re: My favorite movies

"Gina Davis was a ship captain" = Cutthroat Island. A couple more "off the wall" action ones I like- The Replacement Killers(Mira Sorvino's smile just melts me) Mean Guns(Chris Lambert,Ice T,etc) The above weren't exactly B movies IMO but they weren't big blockbusters either. As ...

Re: Cool and not so cool TOOL REVIEWS

I had a Snap-on truck guy give me a bad time about replacing a 3/8 ratchet about 25 years ago and never went back to a truck for tools. I figured I could replace Craftsmans forever without an assumed improper use lesson. But Craftsman ratchets were a better tool back then. They seem real cheesy to ...

Re: cordless impact drill

Makita, you either love them or hate them. I have a 1/2" drill that will wrap up if you let it, But I would never buy another one. Greg[/quote] My Milwaukee D-Handle was the same way Greg. It was low geared/RPM. Perfect for mixing mud,the low speed adds less air bubbles. And in fair defense of ...

Re: cordless impact drill

Here's an article from 2003. I don't agree with every word of course but it covers some general info/opinion of quite a few brands. If anyone runs across a newer article and/or one that covers more brands I'd love to see a link. http://www1.epinions.com/content_3304824964 Speaking of using tools,I g...

Re: cordless impact drill

I also think that there are "regional" favorites. Around here Hilti is rare, Bosch is a popular brand. Porter Cable (former Rockwell) was born in Syracuse, so they are still popular here. Ridgid is about locked up by Home Depot, Great tools (I'm looking for a portable table saw). If you l...

Re: cordless impact drill

That damn dog is an evil spam dog if ever I saw one JD!! Just look at him glaring with "dollar sign" eyes!! Some guys I often work with use lots of Dewalt tools. I replaced my D-Handle 1/2" Milwaukee corded with a 1/2" Dewalt a couple years ago, liked the Milwaukee...

Problems uploading pics here so put them on my Flickr account and made them public. The fence pics all start with "Bonnie's" when you mouse over. I had resized for email and can't get them back to original with good clarity yet! Damm computers anyway! :? Will have to find her email and dow...

Re: cordless impact drill

If you're firing off PMs or just want to post here, I have a large shed project coming up in a few months and I don't think my B&D dual battery is up to it, so a new driver/drill is called for! Sounds interesting! Oh what the heck DaveyB,some brand names have been mentioned in the last couple p...

Re: cordless impact drill

Yepper Greg,My newer Milwaukee(made is Asia somewhere)14.4v does a good job, just not nearly as easy as the impact driver. Heck my other much older Milwaukee 14.4v still works,it was made in Germany back in 1999 or so,the newer one isn't near the quality. Some new kid on a jobsite borrowed the old on...

cordless impact drill

I'm not going to mention brand unless specifically asked cause I don't want to sound like a damn worthless spammer. I recently got a small cordless drill/kit. When the drill "feels" resistance it starts a hammer action to help drive the screw. It is much easier to use than my other cordles...

A few in no particular order. Man in Iron Mask Long Kiss Goodnight Aliens Predator Zorro(Catherine Zeta Jones version of course) Hobbit and the Trilogy(read all the books too, twice!) Tombstone (Kilmer) Tomb Raider(games too) I like action/horror/western,but as so-called "chick flicks" go,T...
