Re: Condensation or water leak?

I have the white skirting with the small slits in it. Actually, I think I figured out what happened. Last fall a cat was getting in. One of the skirting pieces was off, and the hole was large enough for me to climb under the trailer. The cat tore a hole in my underbelly, so I taped up the hole, and ...

Condensation or water leak?

Over the past week, my double wide trailer has begun stinking like rat or cat pee. So bad, I couldn't breathe. It had mice when I bought it 2 years ago, but I got rid of them, and no more signs. Last night I decided to go under there and check, and all the underbelly on the front half of the trailer...

Re: Metal grid walkway

Yes, I do plan to walk and fish from them, so several people would be lined up along the edge at the same time. The frame will probably be a metal bar or angle iron attached to the pilings and to "something" on shore. I'm visualizing all 4 edges of the grate to be resting on the angle iron...

Metal grid walkway

I'm considering buying metal grid from the scrap yard for a walkway or part of a boardwalk hanging over a steep slope to the water. I'm wondering if it is strong enough to hold its own weight, or if it needs bracing in the middle. 3x9 foot pieces, weighs 160 lbs. If I can lay them side by side, I ca...

Replace urine soaked insulation

I have a crawl space under my double wide trailer, and can actually crawl on my hands and knees without hitting my back, under most of the trailer. When I had some pipes inspected last year, the plumber left a crack in the skirt opening, but said my underbelly looked really good. I had never been un...

Re: Epic Fail - need advice - metal roof - leak at screw

Thanks for posting this. I have the same problem. Previous owners put a new metal roof on about 6-8 years ago after a tree fell on that part of the trailer. I climbed up there to sweep off all the leaf buildup, and started a leak. Quick repair of just squirting silicone on each screw stopped the lea...

Re: Newbie, wish I'd found the site sooner

I didn't knock the siding loose with the pressure washer. I was working about 4 feet away and as I was turning the water flow away from the house, it blew up. Not even enough pressure to get it wet, it was the wind from the washer that showed me it was loose. About 3-4 rows about 4 ft wide blew up, ...

Re: Newbie, wish I'd found the site sooner

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone! Ponch, the siding just blew in the wind, like taking a piece of tissue paper, holding it up and blowing on it. It blew out away from the house, then fell back in place and you can't tell anything is wrong. There is no damage to the siding, it looks perfectly no...

Re: Eight legged things...

My 2 cents - use anything but mothballs! I'm dealing with mothball odor that just won't go away. If there is any tiny crack, the odor will seep into your trailer.

Newbie, wish I'd found the site sooner

Hi, all. I've been lurking and looking at some of the posts when I had specfic issues. So far, it appears I've done everything wrong. :( Used a pressure washer on my vinyl siding. Noticed one section blew up when I got near, probably missing some kind of clip. Didn't do a very good check of the trai...
