Re: Few questions before I relevel our home

My advise is to make your water level and crawl under and see just how far off it is. Take and plot the piers on paper and write you readings down as you go. I also use soap stone and write it on the beam next to the pier, that should only take an hour or so. You may be surprised when you get the r...

Re: Few questions before I relevel our home

I have had frames bend under load, they are not constructed of very thick metal. My solution was simply to use foot long pieces of angle iron the thickest gauge I could find. I used 2' angle iron lengths 1/4' -3/8' thick. I construct 1 foot square double thick 4 X 4 PT "mats as jack pads. Orie...

Re: Few questions before I relevel our home

Thanks Greg, no wrong way taken. That's why I asked, I thought I could set it a foot or so below the frame in the middle and let it spin. But I guess I didn't take into account the two sewer drain pipes coming from each end to the connection in the middle. I will make a water level and check things ...

Few questions before I relevel our home

I need to relevel our home, my girlfriend bought it about 8 years ago and had it moved here. Its never been releveled and I believe there are a few signs that it may need to be done. I have been searching this site for the last couple hours about releveling and I also have the manual I bought from t...

Re: Install new window

What kind of siding is on the outside? Lots of things come into play but a qualified contractor should be able to install it. Just make sure you find a good contractor because they will need to cut into the wall, add a header and other framing, install the window, weatherproof the window, install tr...

Re: More Pictures of the Remodel; Here Comes the Home Stretc

I'm not positive but I thought you couldn't run pex right up to the water heater? I know pex makes a 12-18" long copper flex pipe with a valve that you crimp pex onto and that is screwed into the water heater, that is what I have used for the couple of water heaters I have installed. Something ...

Was going to update my post to help others

I was going to update one of my posts so as to help others in the future if they have the same problem and try searching before starting a new topic. But the post is locked so there will be no ending to that post. I understand why posts get locked but there should be an option for the OP to edit the...

Re: Bathroom Remodeling

Greg is right, particle board is junk when it gets wet. As far as the kilz, it will not kill the mold. It only covers it up which in my opinion is a really bad thing to do. The mold will continue to grow. Mold is a tricky thing, LOTS of good info out there on the web about it, how it grows, how to k...

Re: Window replacement-tricks for mobile homes?

Thanks for the advice JD, I think we are talking about the same thing, a roll of what I call rubber that is self sticking on one side. Before that stuff I put a bead of caulk behind the nailing flange so even with the rubber flashing on top of the nail flange I still run a bead of caulk behind just ...

Re: Window replacement-tricks for mobile homes?

Went to homedepot and the closest they had in stock was 30x56 or 58, don't remember. Didn't ask about special order but figured it would be a lot. Went to menards and they had a 30x60 crestline in stock for 165! I'm not sure but it looks really similar to the one in there now. I was just looking to ...

Window replacement-tricks for mobile homes?

I need to replace one window for sure, has a crack in it. Might end up doing more to try and get some energy savings but we'll see how the first one goes. The house is a ten year old 80x16 single wide and the window is a 30x60 single hung double pain window. Outside is vinyl siding and the J channel...

Re: Contractor "down payment" - Labor only

Just out of curiosity how much is the total job? Did you get more than one bid? Was this contractor the lowest bid, if so by how much? I would not have a problem paying a 30% downpayment for a good contractor. I think the beggining of the job is in the contractors favor but you should set up the pay...

Re: treadmill in mobile home question

Thanks for the links JD. There is a Mobile Home Stuff store about an hour away but I don't like dealing with them if I don't have to! Everything is marked WAY up and the employees aren't to customer friendly. Might have to call them to see what they have and how much. Dean, I don't think those littl...

Re: treadmill in mobile home question

Thanks for the replys guys. JD, is there a place I can order those online? I am going to make the plywood/foam pads tomorrow to see how much the help. But if the price isn't to bad I will get 2 of those piers to put under the treadmill also.

treadmill in mobile home question

We just got a new treadmill and got it set up in our 16x80 trailer. There is a lot of vibration throughout the house when using it. The first time we were using it a lite bulb fell out of the dining room chandaler about 15' away from the treadmill. I believe we have 2x6 floor joists. Just wondering ...
