Re: Shower Pan 1/8 off from being level...

Paint will not be an issue with the thinset. I recommend using thinset but if you don't I would at least put down a piece of shower pan liner to keep the base from squeaking and making noise. Even roofing paper could work for this.

Re: Installing New Fiberglass Shower Base

A couple of things.... I would also use a complete three or two piece wall unit with the pan. (you might end up with cracking tile in a mobile home) Also even if the pan is nice and level on the floor a little thinset or even mortar works wonders on making it a lot more solid and stable. Just plop d...

Re: Full Kitchen Remodel Progress

Looking good, As for the bugs if you still see one there could still be hundreds. Make sure to also bomb the underneath of your home. Those guys will be in the belly and just about every other place. I have seen where the neighbor had them and the place I was working on could not get rid of them unt...

Re: Old mobile home electrical

I would disconnect the wire, pull it out of the perimeter band and put some 3/4" grey conduit over the wire if it is a sigle wire, reconnect the wire then just anchor the conduit to the bottom of the home near the edge were the belly wrap is close to the floor joist. Where the boxes are use the...

Re: Insulating water filter?

Make an insulated box around the whole filter area and then put in a socket and leave a light bulb on all winter, the heat from the light bulb is enough to keep you from freezing.

Re: Toilet Flange

That might have been a flange that had a metal ring on it like the one in the picture above(the red part) and the flange came off. If your tee is a 4" one then they had a 3" inside glued to it. You can get an inside or outside connect type. Were your toilet bolts just in the wood floor? If...

Re: Doublewide seems to be shifting

I would call in a professional as soon as you can. It could be your house is settling to uneven or even could be termite damage, both could be caused by too much moister. It would only take one pier sinking to much and it could throw the whole house off kilter.

Re: Small question about vinyl floor plywood underlayment

Looks nice Eugene, nice work. I see it looks like you had a crown stapler for the luan underlayment. That floor is perfect. You will be fine. That vinyl seals pretty good so you wont have anything to worry about.

Re: Small question about vinyl floor plywood underlayment

This video shows you the install. When I cut the ends I just use heavy duty scissors I think they are quicker. If you don't want to take off your old trim you can add shoe molding to cover the gap.

Re: Small question about vinyl floor plywood underlayment

Ron - thank you! I was not very correct about vinyl tiles, actually they are planks from Home Depot. Full name is Resilient Vinyl Plank Flooring. If I understand right they require floating installation. Underlayment is not required, but I decided to put it just in case. And because I see the old w...

Re: Small question about vinyl floor plywood underlayment

Actually you don't need waterproof underlayment with vinyl tiles. I install tile all the time and if it the peel and stick or VCT tile using mastic I always use 5/32 Luan Plywood. Now a days one side is primed and has a pretty good seal to it. If you are putting down any type of underlayment just ma...

Re: Crossover duct sizing.....

I would temporary close off the vents on the good side and see if it changes. It seems that crossovers never seem to work right for some reason. Like Greg said, duct work is a science and can be very difficult to figure out even with a computer program.

Re: Storm door problem.

Is that a standard door? The hinge looks just like the ones on Emco doors and if so you should be able to change the full hing. Look for screws going down the edge of the door.

Re: Noit really a repair issue but a rules issue

Here in Delaware if you are not going to use the tank anymore it has to be either removed or at least broken up and filled in. If you are still going to use it, it would need access and also still prone to collapse if built on.
