Hello, hello, hello!!

It's been ages since I've been here. Just thought I'd say hi. We are still in our 1967 Landola double-wide. It's been almost 8 years since we remodeled it and moved in. It's been uneventful until this winter. We had a frozen/burst water pipe in January and now a leak in the kitchen ceiling. Major i...

Oh my gosh...am I in the right place??

Well, it's been a long time since I've visited the forum, so imagine my surprise at the new look and format!! When did it change? Not sure I like it, but maybe that will change once I get used to it. Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Hope everyone is well.

RE: Time for a new roof

JD, our pitch is long ways - the length of the house instead of the width. And I think it's just a little bit more pitched than your picture but not much. But my hubby has just informed me that he's going to put a real pitched roof on the house. Lord help me when he starts that!! I think he plans on...

Time for a new roof

We have a double wide and the pitch is not the usual way. If you look at the house from the front or back, the pitch is in the middle and runs the short width of the house. It's also a very shallow pitch. Can a new metal roof like shown in the booklet on this site be used? We thought of putting one ...

Ultrasonic mouse repellent........

So has anyone had any luck with one of these gadgets? My neighbor says she has one and hasn't had any mice since she plugged it in. Not sure which brand she has. I am getting desperate to get rid of these blankety blank mice!! My cat killed one the other night. I don't know where it got in. I've st...

RE: Just got back from Vegas........

Mark, go to http://www.caesarspalace.com and look for tickets there. I believe the lowest is around $95 and the highest is $250. There's an additional small charge for buying online. We got the highest cost tickets (bought them 6 months before the show) and had pretty good seats. They were on the f...

Just got back from Vegas........

We were there for a week and had a lot of fun. The main event was the Cher concert at Caesar's Palace. Wow, is she awesome. Her voice is just as good as ever and the show was very entertaining. She looks really good for 62. LOL We also rented a ski boat and cruised around on Lake Mead. Had to go in...

RE: We need a new roof!

Well, my husband's plan is to replace the metal with new metal. He is going to do it himself with the help of a carpenter friend. The friend knows where to buy the metal in a nearby town. I know it would cost way more than we want to pay to have it done by a roofing company!!

Thanks!

RE: We need a new roof!

Thanks for your replies. Check this site out and look at some of the pictures. That's what we had in mind for the new metal roof. There are several stick built homes in this area with this roofing and they look really good. Last forever too. http://www.chicagosbestroof.com/ As for what I said about...

We need a new roof!

The current (and original from the 60's) is metal. The house is a double wide, about 53 x 22. Hubby wants to either put on whole new metal roof. That would mean taking off the old metal. Or........ building a new pitched roof with trusses, etc. Our neighbor has a rubber roof and said it weighs as m...

Scam letter - Beware!

I got a piece of mail today postmarked from Canada. No return address. Hmmmmmmm, okay so I opened it up and there's a letter telling me I'm a winner in the "Jackpot" for $700.000. AND there's a check enclosed for almost $4000. Sure looks authentic. But since I have not entered any "j...

Help! Can't get into my car!!

I went out this morning to go to work and my doors are frozen solid on my car. It's only 1 degree above zero this morning and it was raining last night. Oh well, looks like I'll have the day off.

RE: Selling my house

texas, it's really hard to get financing for a mobile home where I live unless it's a new one sold by a dealer. The only possible choices I know of is bank financing (and they don't consider it a mortgage - just a loan) or find a place online. Here are several sites dedicated to mobile home financi...

RE: NewB w/Electrical problem

We had a similar problem with the outlets on the outside wall of our bedroom. And the ceiling fan too. We probably never would have figured it out if we hadn't remodeled the room addition on the front of our house. When hubby took off the paneling, he found that the electrical wiring was not hooked...
