Re: Flange over tile or hardi-backer?

Running late on my own deadline due to one of the kids getting hurt and a coupla of those inevitable last minute hardware store runs for something that just didn't work out right lol. I still have to finish the moulding and baseboards, replace the old zurn quest fittings (going with shark-bites and ...

Flange over tile or hardi-backer?

Doing a bath remodel, took out the toilet and sink cabinet but left the tub in place. Replaced a 2'x3' section of bad subfloor around toilet then laid hardi-backer over the rest of floor 5'x5'4". My toilet flange has alot of play, and could lift about 1 1/2" above the subfloor so I thought...

Re: 1997 multiple water line leaks

I think I'm gonna follow Greg on this one, using the red and blue for new lines, I'll probably kick myself somewhere in the future if I don't. With the large section (10' x 16') of underbelly I have missing I'm sure it's not impossible I've suffered small cracks in my lines due to all the direct col...

Re: Snow/ice on roof

We like to salt our roof when we see big storms coming in... we have 16' X 80' shingle roof. We just walk around the perimeter throwing it up n over (minding that you look down so you don't get it in your eyes, or wear saftey glasses) what are your thoughts on salting?

Re: turning a garden tub in to one with jets

I have to third the portable bubbler, I bought one like Brenda's as well, it was by conair and had an adjustable/removable arm so that it will hook to rectangle or garden tubs.... I let a neighbor borrow it when she was having back problems, she'd never used a porta-bubbler before...... I miss my po...

Re: 1997 multiple water line leaks

Since you mention it, I re-checked the pricing... it is actually $10 cheaper to buy 5- 100' rolls than to buy one 500' roll... I don't know if it's typical but I have my main hot and cold run straight down the center with connections branching off that main line where appropriate so I'm rough guessi...

Re: Painting interior question

I always start my posts by saying I'm not the pro here but, I for one have used all different types of paint; latex, flat even glaze over my wallboard with no problems.

Re: electric heat

Sorry to interject DannyBob.... I'm not the pro here, but to me your question looks confusing. Are you asking what you can expect the life span of your furnace to be? If so I assume it would be helpful to list your furnace model, if you can't locate it I'm sure these folks can point you in the right...

1997 multiple water line leaks

My home is a 1997 80' X 16' with 1/2" PEX tubing end to end. Today a crew came over ready to fix a few spots of my underbelly. Sadly I learned that I have leaks from one end of the house to the other. They left saying they can't help me until the water leaks are fixed (understandbly). The entir...

1972 mobile washer leak subfloor damage

I'm doing several repairs for some friends so I'll keep them in different posts to avoid confusion. **The family is very low income with 4 children so I'm trying to keep the costs low yet effective. I'm afraid this one is beyond my abilities so any help is loved. The washer had a leak in intake line...
