Re: Find the problems - win a mug #2

ok, building on dinotoads answers, (which is what we do anyways on problem solving here anyways lol) 1. no pad under blocks 2. blocks need to be turned 45 degrees 3. need to have used less wood, replace most of wood with a 8 by 16 by 2 inch construction grade solid cement block ( same size as a pave...

Re: installing a ceiling fan in the ceiling with no exposed

there are casing that can be applied to the ceiling for the wires to run in, they are not so bad looking.... maybe get a piece of it to show your mother, the wire doesn't "show" it is in the casing, and maybe she will accept that? can you place the casing running along a joint to be able t...

need the technical term, is it vent stack?

Hi, I am trying to help a lady at the park problem-solve, she gets bad odors in her home when she uses the washer, and once sludge came up the tub... The park guys say they think her drain line is ok..... I told her I thought it might be the vent stack? is that the term for the pipe that goes up to ...

Re: Musty Odor Removal/Elimination??

I am getting a lot of stale mildew odor in a home I am working on that has no underbelly, and holes in the floor under the carpet. I have the skirting opened up to try and dry out the ground, I am going to have to pitch the water more away from the home where the drip channels drop it right on the s...

Re: Best Caulk for Sealing Exterior Seams??

you might look at the geocel caulks... flexible, paintable, not removable though.... they have a website. I have used the clear one around windows, it seems strong.

why would you want to be able to remove the caulk?

Re: Huge Remodel Project

Here is a slightly out there idea... how about hanging a sheet where you think you would want the wall? Treat it like a wall, by having it in the traffic pattern, see if it is the spot and size you would like... a refrigerator box or water heater box might do to mock up an island or a half wall... h...

mystery holes in the floor....

I finally found time to cut the carpet, and just like a friend of mine thought, the holes in the floor down the center of the mobile home were above plumbing junctions (tees) that had leaked and sprayed up onto the floor... .one bad spot is about 3 feet by 8 ft long.....

Re: Huge Remodel Project

I think being able to change things is one of the most fun features of mobile homes. Is there anywhere on the internet that you can find a way to draw out the various features? or cheap software? I am thinking I saw years ago decorating software, maybe post this idea on the decorating forum? I know ...

Re: kitchen floor crown

Home Depot carries Allure vinyl flooring, it is like a vinyl equivalent of laminate floor. it may be able to flex enough to take the bow over that distance. there is a tile pattern one, that is 1 ft by 3 ft planks, with glue strips. I have it in my kitchen I really have been very happy with it. Bren...

holes in center of mobile home

Has anyone found this before.... in the home I have bought to renovate, almost every room has a hole in the center of the room, 1 to 2 feet across... it is not due to the heating ducts, they are located about 2 feet away... there is evidence of pets (dog hair) but I don't smell odors, but is there a...

Re: can I use this beadboard?

rethinking this.... for the real bead board... could you have someone make floor molding and cap molding out of 1 x 3 or 1x4 that has just over 3/8 inch deep groove in it, install the floor molding by nailing it to the studs or the floor, put the bead board up with glue and dropping it into the floo...

Re: can I use this beadboard?

If I may ask, why are you covering so much of the wall? in the homes I am fixing, that would put the bead board up 2/3 of the wall in height.... If you can live with 32 inch high and a trim piece, or 48 inches high and a trim piece, you could get the bead board paneling sheets, which are 4 feet wide...
