Re: Selling a mobile home

Thanks... I will have to see if our local mobile home parks have any sort of community bulletin board.

Selling a mobile home

I'm looking to sell my double wide which is on a foundation, on a corner lot that I own. I'd like to sell it quickly, such as to one of those companies that buys "ugly houses," but I can't find any that purchase mobile homes. Do you good folks know of any companies that will purchase mobil...

Re: Leaks around vent pipes

That is something I didn't think about...that the leak might be somewhere else, and just running down to the part of the pipe that's in the attic, and leaking there. Thanks for your input, everybody! I'll print this thread out, and give it to the next person we get out here to fix the problem. There...

Re: Leaks around vent pipes

I forgot to mention, I'm somewhat disabled, so I can't get up on the roof to check things out for myself. So what type of repairman would I have to hire, to get this repair done right once and for all? I plan on printing out the info you guys have given me on this thread (thank you!), and show it to...

Leaks around vent pipes

No matter how many handymen, HVAC techs, or whoever we hire, we keep having problems with leaks around the flue pipe over the furnace room, and the vent pipe over the kitchen sink. They've caulked with silicone, roofing cement, and one HVAC guy even replaced some fittings and installed a flat square...

Re: Site & forum update & face lift.

Please don't do one of those "upgrades" which is actually a downgrade for those of us who live in rural areas, and have slower connections that can't handle all the cutesy bells and whistles that are essentially useless. The only upgrades that are worthwhile, are those which shorten loadin...

Re: Frost heave wrecking our sidewalk

We're too injury-riddled to do it ourselves, LOL...but I'll bet you're right about it not being mixed properly. The stuff that's broken feels like sand. We'll have to have the whole thing replaced, as it's all being ruined. Luckily it's not a very long sidewalk. Could you point me to a site that exp...

Re: Frost heave wrecking our sidewalk

Sorry so late posting the pictures, Greg...between the bad weather and being out of town, I haven't had a chance to take photos until today. Our fence is casting shadows, hence the weird stripes. :) This is a pic of the first part of the sidewalk that began cracking, last year. It was only a small c...

Frost heave wrecking our sidewalk

We've lived here in the northern Plains for a few winters, with only minimal damage occuring to our sidewalks...except the one leading from the front porch to the garage. Until now. I've seen sidewalks damaged by everything from frost to tree roots, but I've never seen anything like this before. The...

Re: Replacing floor vent covers

We got our replacement floor vents from Menard's. The only thing I don't like about these newer ones is that the slots are much larger than on the original floor vents. It's basically an invitation to mice if there are any gaps in the ducts (we've had mice get in the house that way, in the past). An...

Re: why is my paint still sticky?

Or maybe it was cheap paint? The interiors of our MH were painted by the previous owners, who used Walmart paint for everything. And yes, it feels sticky!

Re: Can washer vibrations damage a Coleman furnace?

^ Amen to that! The repairman explained how you have to replace the entire part ($300+) instead of just the bearing. Gee, y'think it could have anything to do with gouging the consumer? ;) But even so...just five years for the blower fan, and less than one year for the inducer motor seems a bit much...

Can washer vibrations damage a Coleman furnace?

We have a Coleman furnace (Model DGAE080CDK) that was installed in 2007. It sits right next to the washing machine, with only a thin wall separating them. Although we've reinforced the floor so that the washer doesn't shake the house nearly as much as before, we didn't get that done until last year....

Re: SOLVED - Shower faucet problems

I've updated this, in case someone else might search this forum for a similar problem they're having. The plumber discovered that the blockage was caused by the washer getting jammed into the valve. It apparently came off the stem and got forced in there, to the point where no water came out. A new ...

Re: Shower faucet problems

The plumber I called pretty much says the same thing as you guys are--and yes, we're getting a new faucet and spout since the diverter valve is pretty much shot. For future reference, though...any help on identifying the type of stem in that picture I posted? Because I would like to replace the stem...
