RE: Bridging a 6 inch gap between 2 Mobile homes

I have nothing to add to your issue with the roof as these guys have you covered, but in the 1st pic (top left hand corner) there appears to be a nice river nearby. If that's the case then I envy you for living that close to moving water. Looks like a great spot to enjoy. Later!

RE: Need pictures of redesign/remodels

I'd say the member "ranjosh" is a spammer. One thing... NO mobile home is gonna be that spacious and second.... this is the person's first post. This is usually how they lure people in. You click on their name to find out more and they send you crap through e-mail exchanges or whatnot. Lat...

RE: Foundation sealing

Easy..... buy a few cans of expanding foam and carefully inject a nice bead to fill in any voids. I have been using latex expansion foam for the last few years for various projects and IMO it's much better than the typical foam like original Great Stuff. The latex doesn't expand as much, but can be ...

Here is a link that provides alot of info regarding iron. http://www.idph.state.il.us/envhealth/factsheets/ironFS.htm Digital Dreams....... if you have 10.5ppm of iron and removed it that easily consider yourself really lucky. There are different types of iron in water and different methods of remov...

RE: Water Softeners

I'll give you a heads up on this one...... a softener is great for neutralizing hardness, removing chlorine, etc..... but they do very little for removing iron. May help with smaller amounts, maybe less than 1ppm, but any higher and you should look for something more iron specific. There are lots of...

RE: Why....doesn't my water stay hot?

Sounds like a bad element. Here's what you can do..... turn off the breaker going to the unit and make sure the power is off by checking with voltmeter. Then simply disconnect the wires off each element. Check the continuity with an ohm/amp type meter.... if the element conducts electricity then it'...

GatorBite Fittings!!!

Just thought I'd share my experience with GatorBite fittings on a recent project. We live in a Crestline ranch style modular home that utilizes all PEX plumbing, brass fittings, metal valves, etc. Nothing cheap in other words. Recently I wanted to flush our water heater and noticed right away both g...

RE: Water softener salt cause issues with septic system???

We've been using our softener for about 4 years and also have a septic system. A softener really wasn't needed because our water is relatively soft at around 3 grains, but we brought it from our previous home and just wanted it installed. Problem we have is low PH and fluctuating iron. Ended up gett...

RE: Salt Free Water Conditioner?

No experience with no-salt versions, but the standard salt utilizing softener is tried and true and contrary to popular belief they DO NOT add a noticeable amount of sodium to your water. There are versions that supposedly use magnetism and other ways to remove the hardness, but if IMO if they were ...

RE: Gap around bathroom sink

Also... I'd suggest you use latex caulk, as it's much easier to work with (allows more work time to smooth out), has virtually no smell and washes up with water. I personally think a wet finger is the only way to smooth out caulk. Those "pro caulk shapers" are just another gimmick IMO and ...

RE: Dryer vent

What I do is slide the washer out to allow more room for properly fitting the dryer vent hose. The water and drain lines on the washer have alot more give to make this work better for me. Yeah you don't want to cut it too short and you don't want to have alot of slack to bunch back up, because this ...

Another great versatile tool is a good jigsaw. My dad bought a Bosch jigsaw back in the late 80's and built and entire deck with the thing, cutting everything on site including 4x4 posts. It still runs like new to this day. No telling how many miles of wood he cut with it. Later!

RE: GMX Water Softener

Can't comment on this particular brand, but we have owned a Rainsoft softener for about 11 years and it works great. We have had two minor issues with it (mechanical timer motor), which is to be expected with something that moves 24/7 for 11 years. Rainsoft is more expensive than most, but they requ...

RE: how to move/repair electric stove

Cutting the power at the breaker is a good idea, until you can unplug it anyway. We own a modular and the stove is held in place somewhat by a bracket on the back leg(s). It not only secures it but also keeps it from being moved too close to the wall. Later!
