Re: cheapo skirting insulation

Wrapped or not old books are extremely prone to mold and mildew. The next owner of your place will think you were a crazy book hoarder. Use foam sheets as poster above recommends. I've run across good deals on sheet foam on Craigslist. Use the search feature. I've cut 2" thick foam with a plain...

Re: Insulation In walls

Yes paper side in facing living space.

Luan is nice and light as a ceiling and takes paint well. You will need batten strips on the seams. You can also now get 1/2" light weight drywall at Home Depot. It's supposed to be half the weight of the regular stuff.

Re: What type of saw would you use?

^^ He's right. You have to keep turning the post and then finish off the center a bit with a handsaw or recip saw. If it's pressure treated get a fresh blade for PT wood. It makes a huge difference.

I've been following your awesome transformation but haven't been able to log in for a long time. I see no one commented since June. I hope you'll keep us updated. The outside looks great.

Re: Painting Shutters

You di a good job by washing. I would also give it a sanding with 80 or 100 grit sandpaper. Just scuff the shutters a bit. Then you could try Krylon Fusion for Plastic Primer (it's a spray can) and then use the blue paint you have. You could also try Kilz Adhesion Primer. It's not the same as the Ki...

Re: Need Advice: Painting Mobile Home Exterior

I'd run around the mobile before painting with a spray can of Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer and spot prime all the screws and trouble spots. Then paint as described above.

Re: Whew...finally made it past the login!

Is someone trying to kill this forum on purpose? I notice a lot fewer posts in the past several months. It took 4 tries tonight to login with all the same info. I'm sure this is running a few people off.

Great idea. I can't believe the posters above me don't realize that gravel discourages mice and other burrowing animals.

Wow. You paid a lot of attention to the details and it paid off. I can't wait to see more projects as you complete them. Your fixer has come a long way in short time. I reread this thread to find out the floor product is Costco 8mil laminate. What's the color name?

Re: Laminate flooring, orientation, transitions and entrance

I can only suggest you keep searching this forum and ask questions. When I bought the mobile home manual, maybe four years ago, I got it through Amazon and paid with credit card. You probably know this but the first thing everyone recommends is to have your new home leveld before doing any renovatio...

Your family did an awesome amount of work. Thanks for taking the time to post all the pictures. It looks more like a cottage on the exterior than a mobile home. Your daughter sure has a sweet place.
