Re: 1956 Stewart Double Decker

I've seen some pretty far gone trailers come up amazingly, the same guy who owns this has another 77 spartan, I need to look closer at it, but he's giving heavy sighs because I think I like it nearly as much as the Stewart.

Re: 1956 Stewart Double Decker

Luckily, not everyone sees it like that :) and in fact, many would be very happy to see this trailer given that there only a couple hundred in the entire US that are even known about (I've only found 3 physical examples on the entire www), this one wasn't known about until pretty recently. Given the...

I honestly don't think it is. I need to crack out the big tape and see exactly what the deal is, but I'm guessing you'd have pretty easy bridge or overpass clearance.

Re: 1956 Stewart Double Decker

If you look at the link I gave, these are hauled around very easily and are in fact, the precursor to the 5th wheel campers. When purchased new back in the day, for $10,000, you didn't get a home loan for one, you got an auto loan. (then insured for $20k and burned it down and built a house) As for ...

Re: 1956 Stewart Double Decker

No solid plans just yet, although mine are to at least make it haulable, I had a look under it yesterday, every tire has to be replaced, but the frame is fine, although I'd be happier to see the footers replaced and covered properly. There's some semi new ones on there in front, but they've already ...

1956 Stewart Double Decker

OK, so I've been here a while, but haven't posted in a while. So I met this guy recently, and I happen to mention I'm into things like vintage campers and trailers, and he says "oh, really, I've got a 1956 Stewart". And of course, I knew instantly what he meant, but I'd never heard of one ...

Re: Pex lines

Oh, and I meant to ask, do you have a preference on size hose? Or do you do the 1/2" size down to 3/4" inside the mobile?

Re: Pex lines

I'm a believer if it runs water out of it, it needs a shut off. I was just going to put the shut offs right into the same lines. Yes, I realize there are several places the water goes in the bathroom, I figured another hub under the floor of that particular bathroom then send the lines off to the pl...

Re: Pex lines

What I had planned on, was going from the main water line, which is in a really weird spot practically dead center under the trailer. I was then going to have a hub directly above mounted to the beam and then run lines to one bathroom (south end near the main) to the kitchen (near north end about 20...

Re: Pex lines

I was going to invest in the clamps and do it once. I've had non stop water issues here and this year was the last I'll put up with it. I've handled the hose before, but I've seen where some use a semi rigid line and add it in. What I want to do is run it straight through with the hose, no breaks re...

Pex lines

So I have to replace each and every inch of water line in my mobile. I've just spent the winter with no water. (lots of fun) Literally every pipe has come apart etc. I want to replace with PEX (flexible hosing). Replacing the septic is the easiest and it doesn't really need to be done, but since its...

Freecycle, Habitat for Humanity stores, and even asking contractors. Lots and lots of places to get stuff free or nearly free.

I used Valspar on my place when we began to paint. Since I picked a really intense hot pink for my living room, coverage and not having to use ten coats was crucial. The Valspar has a lifetime guarantee, and one gallon covered a lot in the room of choice. I picked up a semi gloss myself, I dislike t...

Hey all

I figured you'd like a few pictures. Please keep in mind it's all a work in progress though.
