Tub drain issue - drain too high

I am remodeling a bathroom - removed the old mobile home tub and made room for a 30x60 steel tub and installed it. Apparently the old plastic tub sat slightly higher off the ground than the new steel tub, so the ABS drain sits just below the level of the tub. (see pic) The tub drains all the way but...

Re: Crack in fibeglass shower

It is a 1-piece fiberglass shower stall. The previous owner was 300+lb. That may have had something to do with it...

The home is a 1999 Champion and the shower is original.

Crack in fibeglass shower

I am remodeling a mobile home and I just noticed a small (maybe 2" +/-) crack in the bottom of the one-piece fiberglass shower. Can I repair this easily with fiberglass resin? https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/fijN8M_Vgq6rxFQY7wGoeqdtybrt9qGvQy0XLaggkstgqmxND1C6VtlIkp31QUBzlZeCQQlZyyAVKgSMRS7t1...

Re: Pre-hung door question (Triming a wide jamb into a 3-1/4" wall)

Maybe if the trim around the door was not as wide as regular door trim it would hide it a bit?

Pre-hung door question (Triming a wide jamb into a 3-1/4" wall)

I need to replace at least one interior door in a house I am refurbishing. If I get a mobile home door, it's $100 or so. At Home Depot I can get a pre-hung door for about $75, but it is a 4-9/16 jamb, and of course I have 3-1/4" walls. I believe that I read somewhere on this site that someone h...

Re: Flooring suggestions - dog/scratch resistant

Thanks!

I recently came across "DIY Brown Paper Flooring" on youtube. It looks incredible, is SUPER cheap, and very tough.

I think we are going to give it a try. I will post if we do it.

Flooring suggestions - dog/scratch resistant

I am considering the purchase of another (1999) double-wide that needs a complete refurb. We have 4 dogs and want something that will hold up well. In my current single-wide I actually bought rolls of 1/4" rubber gym flooring and installed it throughout the house. It has been really great as fa...

Water coming in through bathroom light / vent

After a HARD rain I noticed water dripping from both bathroom vents (with lights). Never happened before as far as I can tell, and no water damage to ceiling.

How hard is it to replace these? Mine are original 1989.

Ouch. That sounds like a fortune in work. I know under belly insulation replacement costs a fortune. Not sure if it is something I could do. Thanks for all your help

Re: Buying used - Single wide vs Double wide

Another question: There is currently a Double wide 1999 home on the property. Eventually it will be hauled off. But... I looked at it inside and out, and it might be a candidate for a remodel. What makes me nervous are a couple of things. 1) There are some small (1/2-3/4") gaps in spots of the ...

Re: Buying used - Single wide vs Double wide

The property is sand. There will be a 4-6" thick road base pad placed before the house is installed. Then it will be on blocks and tied down.

That is how my current house is done and there have been no problems and very little settling in 13 years.

New shower pan creaks.

I just installed a new shower stall. As per the instructions, I glued the shower pan to the floor. Apparently it still has some play and when I shift weight from side to side I get creaking. I am NOT going to remove the walls and try and reinstall the pan. What I was wondering is, can I maybe go und...

Buying used - Single wide vs Double wide

Our fist mobile home was (is) a 1989 Fuqua single wide. Very well built. We gave it a complete facelift over the years and it has been a great home. We just purchased another piece of property and went looking at new mobile homes for it. After seeing the prices, we are back to looking for an...

Re: General plumbing questions

Is there any tape that works well to re-seal the belly wrap where it gets cut?

Also, (with PEX) is crimp the way to go? Or should I buy the $$$ expander tool and go that way?
