Re: Laminate flooring question

I agree with the table saw.
It eats up blades in circular saws and never comes out straight.
You won't beleive the difference.

RE: When Is A Mobile Home Too Old To Justify Major Repairs?

I have one made in the 1970's. It has two additions and would have been a waste to get a new one since that would have to be all re-done. The home also had an permanent foundation that is insulated. The home had already been partialy re-done when I bought it. The home already had a new roof with new...

RE: Wall mounted bathroom fans....J.D....talk to me!

I put one in the wall and that sucker really works.
It's not even all the way up on the wall but it's
a high flow volume fan and it does a great job.

RE: Where to get that tape repair stuff

I have "buffalo board" under the trailer.
I can't see tape working on this. Probably would not hold.
I was thinking of using the spray adhesive and maybe stapling it.
Does the underbelly material act as a moisture material also?
Is it like a plastic or a material that breathes.

RE: underfloor insulation

I was thinking about doing this also.
I'm moving all my plumbing inside so freezing will not be an issue.
If I put in the rigid insulation will moisture penetration be an issue.
I have a 1970 trailer with the buffalo board underbelly.
Soil is really sandy under the trailer so not much moisture there.

RE: Energy saving tips&hints..

In my conventional house. The CFC lightbulbs don't last anywhere as long as they say. I had a few of the old ones and they lasted 6-8 years. I put in a bunch of new ones and within a year they started to fail. Two in my basement which is not used that much. He has a point about the furnace. Half tha...

Floating floor

Going to the next stage of renovation. Costco has a floating floor for that is 8mm thick with a plastic backer. Going to put it in the hallway and two bedrooms. The old floor had a carpet glued to it. Took tons of hours to remove it. Still some bumps remain here and there. Some of the floor is a lit...

RE: Prep OSB floor for vinyl

My mother put down vinyl in her kitchen.
In the high traffic areas every little bump wore through the vinyl in a matter
of years.

RE: Mirror, Mirror on the Wall - Please come down

If it's a big mirror it can get scary.
I would tape the mirror up with clear packing tape or duct tape so it breaks it won't fall into pieces that can seriously hurt you.
You can use a heat gun or hair drier to see if it will
loosen the glue.
No matter what be very careful with it.

RE: roofing

Mine has a new roof over the old roof. It's held by the original walls which are 2x3. It's a higher pitch so it only comes in contact with the old roof on the outside walls. It's been like that for years. It's in the Adirondacks in a town that gets the most snow in that area. I'm amazed that it's ab...

Re: RE: Moisture?

The original roof looks a little on the rounded side. What is visible from the inside is metal. The inside of the walls are also metal. I'm putting in 2x4 studs there and as much insulation as will fit. The new roof is slightly peaked above the original roof. The new roof is above the old roof. Ther...

Moisture?

Renovating the back part of my trailer. It's from the 1970's. It was gutted. The guy doing it found moisture and a little water between the metal roof and this 1/2" thick buffalo type board. It was only near the area of the side walls. It seemed to be every other stud. There is the original roo...

RE: Snow load

I have mine in the Adirondacks and the snow is measured in feet. I spoke to the guy that is renovating the back half of the trailer and he said that he shoveled mine. Did not want to loose a customer. There had to be 18"+ on there. The roof had been re-done in the past and a new one was put on ...

expansion tank question

I have a shallow well pump with an expansion tank. I'm looking to move all the plumbing inside except for probably the pump. This will make it easier to drain everything for the winter. Does the expansion tank have to be close to the pump or can it be further away from the tank? I was thinking of mo...

Heating suggestions

Going to re-do the back of my trailer. Kitchen and living area are heated by a Monitor type heater. Bedrooms and bath and rest of trailer are heated with a furnace. Going to take the furnace out. It's pretty old, noisy and takes up space. Going to move all the pipes inside so heating the underbelly ...
