Skirting, my way.

I went back and forth about posting this one here. I don't ever want to do my skirting again. I experimented on the back of the house a few years ago and it still looks like new with no problems with frost heave, weathering, etc. It's a fairly simple system of doing it, but it does require a bit of ...

Re: Kicking the skirting venting dead-horse, again

Well, I'm in Canada, so if we had the skirting open in the winter we'd freeze to death right after all the plumbing froze. We have humid summers so keeping it vented during those times makes more sense as you don't want the humidity trapped under there causing rot and such. The moving air helps with...

Re: Kicking the skirting venting dead-horse, again

This is how I am doing mine. Vented in summer, closed in winter.

Re: Best method for skirting

I am using 1/2" concrete backer board that is commonly used in bathrooms. It is also rated as a skirting material.

Re: Help! I need skirting!

I am slowly re doing mine and I am using concrete board. The stuff they use for shower surrounds. It is rated by the manufacturer as a skirting material. It isn't insulated, but we don't have much of a problem with that, the belly is insulated pretty well. I am in Ontario, Canada and it gets cold. I...

Re: Reply, or submit?

On the quick reply at the bottom of each thread I see a box for the reply contents. Under that are 2 boxes labelled "full editor and preview" and "submit". Below and to the left of that is a blue box with white lettering saying "post reply" with a white arrow also. I am...

Re: Reply, or submit?

OK, has something changed? Now on this thread I only see 3 boxes with "save draft", "preview" and "submit" on it and the blue background with white lettering "reply" is no longer there.....on this thread.

Reply, or submit?

I post answers to questions and they don't show up. Why is there both a "reply" and a "submit" button? Which one do you use? and why is this so unnecessarily complicated?

Re: Hardwood Pallet Flooring!

As Greg said, getting them to the same thickness is important. You will want them pretty smooth too (no splinters). The other critical operation would be to put a tongue on one edge and end, and a matching groove on the opposite edge and end so they interlock. Once down it will have to be all sanded...

Re: Electrical outlets that are linked to a light switch

In some areas the building code requires a switched ceiling light OR a switched outlet to control a lamp upon entering a room. By passing the switch could make your home non compliant, and may effect other things like insurance and re sale. But you could just leave the switch on, or by pass it in th...

Mobile home move video

This past summer we had a new unit come into the park. I was able to capture the process on video. The preamble was filmed today.

Re: New rubber roof over old rubber roof?

That sounds like a good solution. By the sounds of it there is still only 1 layer as everything is bonded together. Congrats on solving the issue.

Re: New rubber roof over old rubber roof?

No. You do not want 2 water impermeable surfaces next to each other. Any dampness or moisture (or even humidity) will get trapped between the layers and mold will grow.

Re: Shower Install - Where to start?

I have a 6' x 5' area in the home where my wood stove sits and it is done with slate tile. Never had a problem in the 12 years it has been there. My floors have 2x6 joists and 5/8 particle board on top. I glued and screwed a layer of 3/4" construction grade plywood, rough side up (grips the mor...

Note: They have all kinds of information on the Shluter site for installation. You will need the pan, and a curb, and what ever other options you want.
