Re: 1989 Champion, entrance door issue, need advice

I wouldn't doubt that leveling should be checked. I had a guy put the pillars and timbers in a few years back, I had the door issue from day one. I had him back to recheck it and it didn't get any better. I replaced the back door a few years ago when the wood frame rotted on the bottom. This front d...

1989 Champion, entrance door issue, need advice

I have this mobile as a mountain camp, the home sits on concrete block pillars with 12x12 timbers front to back. The home is stable, but for a long time my entrance door is racked and drags the carpet. Recently I see that the plastic covering of the front door is coming loose from the framing and th...

Re: Water damage to floor in several places around perimeter

I have had snow piled up against my sides in the winter, that ended up giving me soft spots in the floor around the edges. As Greg said, patch with plywood, not that glued together sawdust that the floor is made of.

Re: roof advice

My roof cost me $3500 and it was done in a day. They put perlings down on the existing roof, wooden risers that are shaped like the metal roofing, then they fasten the metal roofing down to them. I'm completely satisfied with the job. You can spend more if you want more bells and whistles, they make...

Re: roof advice

I have an '89 Champion 56x14 that I use as a camp. I have no running water, therefore scrubbing and recoating the roof was a real quest. The last time I coated it, I scrubbed it by hand with buckets! Being under large pine trees, it was a 2 weekend deal with 2 guys. Week 1 scrub the roof, let it dry...

Front door bound up and dragging floor

Guys, I am by no means an expert when it comes to leveling or this type of a problem, so it looking for advice. My mobile is a 56' single wide and rarely used. I have multiple pillars dug down with 12x12 timbers running front to back in 8 places to provide stability and level? I had this done by a l...

Re: Roof seal in winter

I bit the bullet last year, shelled out $3500 and had a metal roof with a lifetime guarantee installed on my 54' x 14' by a company called Snow King. So far I believe that it was money well spent

Re: Weird Bathroom Vent Switch

Are you sure that you're not dealing with a humidistat fan override? My home has a switch, but if the humidity gets high, it brings the fan on. I have mine disconnected since the humidistat is no longer good, but I discovered as the 120 volts was coursing through my body, that the switch is not the ...

Re: The cursed electrical outlets!

I had quite a few that were so loose that I didn't trust them, and some had boogered up the drywall around it so I needed a plan B. I installed standard size blue plastic work boxes with standard outlets. It was not as easy as it sounds since the wall studs in my Champion home were not 2x4 but somet...

Re: Front door sticking and dragging the floor

If I were to guess, the jamb would not be square. My first thought was that I would have to jack to floor, beyond that is there any adjustments behind the trim this there is for an interior door? Even if there is adjustment, that probably won't help the screen door I'll bet.

Re: Front door sticking and dragging the floor

Greg, I paid a local who does this to do it, he dug holes under the home, blocked up piers, and being that he is also a logger, put 12x12 wood ties from pier to pier under the frame. He either used a red laser or a water level, I wasn't there that day.i was able to adjust the interior doors to close...

Front door sticking and dragging the floor

I have some super duty piers that run across my 54' mobile in about 8 or so places, it's solid as a rock. My front door drags the floor horribly, so bad that my wife will probably break the door eventually. The home is a camp, so I'm not there often. It's level but the screen door is visibly racked ...

Re: Putting down engineered floor on uneven floor and humid

The dip in the floor was there when I purchased the home used. The camp is in the woods on a dirt road with lots of trees tall pines around it, the sun doesn't always hit the home causing dampness. I only run the dehumidifier June-October. In the winter it is common to have snow piled up against the...

Putting down engineered floor on uneven floor and humid spce

I have a camp in the mountains and I'm starting to think about a new kitchen floor. The camp has a dehumidifier running all winter and it's not heated in the winter. My vinyl floor is loose and unglued and we had some floor patches done which required the vinyl to be cut in a few spots. I was thinki...
