Checking the Level of Home
I wonder if that indicates the home needs to be leveled? Unfortunately it costs the same to have someone come out and check the level as it does to level it if indeed it is out of level. Around $400 last time I checked.

Slant in Floor
OK. So my last post pertained to a bad texture job on the ceiling of my not quite year old manufactured home. The factory is going to come out in two weeks and fix that. My next question is this. I took a 4 foot level and from the side wall I measured about a 3/4 inch gap between the level and floor...

Re: Really Strange Ceiling
Hey Greg. Thanks for the opinion. Turns out it was the right call. The factory didn't like the look either and they are going to sand it down and do a full re-tape and re-texture. I have another question but I have learned to stay on-topic so I will make another post.

Re: Really Strange Ceiling
Thanks for the reply Greg. This home is less than a year old so I'm working with the factory to get the problem resolved. This is what it looks like during the day. What do you think?

Really Strange Ceiling
This picture was taken shortly before the sun came up. If I take a picture of the same ceiling during the day it doesn't look like this. It's not sagging but it sure is an eye sore. What is this and what can be done about it? The ceiling has sort of a stomp down texture.

Viny Siding - Foam Core vs OSB Backer?
The home I'm looking at comes standard with a foam core backer underneath the vinyl siding. I have the option to upgrade to an OSB backer for just $500. Which would be better? Opinions please. Thank you!

Vinyl Siding - All the same?
I'm looking at mobile homes. It seems all the new ones come with vinyl siding. I'm not a big fan of the engineer wood products due to maintenance. I know there are difference in quality of vinyl out there. How do I know that I'm getting good quality? What do I ask for? Thanks.

Re: Roof Vents Question
Of all the manufacturers in this area (probably dozens) I have only found two that vent at the eaves. Two! And one of them no longer produce singlewides. Not sure what brands they have up there.

Roof Vents Question
I am buying a new mobile home. I need some advice. This home is solid construction and at a price I can afford. There are two things that concern me. One, it does have an overhang but it's a very slight overhang. It looks to cover the windows and doors but that's it. Is this enough overhang? Also, b...

Tape & Texture or VOG? Seeking Opinions
I am going to buy a new mobile home soon. I am really wanting tape and textured walls as opposed to that VOG wall board. My only concern is cracks. Would cracks be a common thing and is it easy to fix them? Thanks.

Upflow vs Downflow Air: Seeking Opinions
I am in the process of buying a new mobile home. I have decided on most of the features but one feature that I can't decide on is whether I want upflow or downflow air. If I choose upflow air my fear is that if something goes wrong with it I won't be able to access it to fix it. Upflow air uses the ...

Re: New Siding - Any Advice?
Believe me I would love to not have to buy a new house considering I paid $30,000 for this one brand new only 5 years ago. Since then I've had to replace the roof and ductwork underneath. That set me back another $4,000. I've got a lot in it. The contractor said that he could replace the siding with...

New Siding - Any Advice?
I have a newer (2010) mobile home. The home has the metal siding. It is noisy. Really noisy to me. I've tried tightening the screws and that didn't work. I've had the home re-leveled and that didn't work. I'm considering new siding. I'm looking at either vinyl or smart panel. I really like the fiber...

Re: Question about metal siding.
Well my house was only about 1/4 inch out of level. Not bad after 4 years. It took them 41 minutes and I was charged $350 labor and $10 for materials. I'm in the wrong kind of business!
