Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

It's been a while, so I thought an update was in order. slow progress has been made. We got some siding up. Vinyl siding from Ziggy's white piping and dark brown trim http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab190/VintageSteel/Mobile%20Uploads/d3029bee-eb26-4151-9246-95cbaf98e6c7_zpsirikv3hm.jpg started b...

would like to update a locked thread

I have a build thread on this site that has been locked. I assume due to inactivity. I would very much like the ability to update it. Any chance of that? http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab190/VintageSteel/Our%20House/IMG_20120709_192542-1.jpg http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab190/VintageSteel/...

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

I don't have much time when the sun shines. When I got the time, I ain't got the money, when I got the money, I ain't got the time. Anyway, here's a quick update; Built a porch, added some shirting, boxxed in the eves, spread some gravel on the drive and planted some grass: http://i862.photobucket.c...

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

Slow and steady. Removed some ceiling and insulation. Started framin interior walls. This separates the master bath from the walk-in closet. The closet is on the left. You have to go through the bathroom to get to the closet. The closet measures 4 1/2' x 11' http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab190/...

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

I've been waiting to see photos . . . What are you using to side over the osb? I've been busy at my shop. Took a few days off to make some money. ...Siding? I live in North Idaho, that IS siding! Seriously, I'll worry about that in the spring. I got the roof put up. It started raining as I was putt...

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

I'm just replacing the walls that have rotten floor under them and reframing for betterwindows and doors. I'm not concerned about the footing, the concrete pads, under the house, don't seem to have moved much over the last 36 years.

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

looking good! Cant wait to see the finished product. curious, what are you using to determine level? Water level, construction level etc... 4' framing level. Close enough for me. ...And the rabbit hole gets deeper. With the front bedroom sheeted it was time to tear into the livingroom: http://i862....

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

West Side! ...of the house. http://i862.photobucket.com/albums/ab190/VintageSteel/Our%20House/IMG_20121014_164308.jpg?t=1350410436 South West corner of the house needed to be lifted about 1.5". So, I ripped off the skirting and stuck the Hi-Lift Jack under the frame. Once it was level, we could...

Vented roof over

Okay so I just spent a pile of money for enough steel roofing to cover my Double wide. I was going to do a pole building, but time constraints, weather turning cold and (of course) cost, have limited me to a roof over. I have seen rigid foam board nailed between strips of lath and the roof screwed t...

I'm not building a new house, I have to work with what is existing. 5/8 is what is there.

Re: How thick should I make the floor?

If I read that right, you plan to go with two layers of 1/2" plywood?? It will work but it might just be easier to go with 5/8" or 3/4" in a single layer. Good guide to go by is to use the same thickness as what was taken out. The original particle board is 5/8", I am replacing ...

How thick should I make the floor?

I am cutting out every square inch of rotted or swollen sawdust board and replacing it with 5/8" plywood. I plan on sheeting over that with another layer of plywood and staggering all the joints. I will screw and glue the whole works together. Another layer of 5/8" would probably be ideal ...
