Exterior Paint Prep

Hi, What do you guys use to clean the exterior of your place before painting, TSP? Some of the paint is chalky. My plan: Replace rusted siding screws pull screw, (hit area with Scotch Brite pad, replace screw - thinking of using *8X1" SS to ensure a bite in the wood) Spray TSP/Simple Green solu...

Sheetrock & Door/Window Finishing

Hi Not in the trades so please bear with me on the terminology and assuming .5" sheet rock. We are looking into sheet rocking our walls for aesthetics/insulation/sound proofing. Mostly, aesthetics. I'd want to pull the paneling down to move the outlets and switch boxes out .5". I also read...

Wasn't sure how the chemical products would affect the rubber.

Cleaning/Sealing Rubber Roof

Hi. Searched and read some threads but didn't find an all inclusive topic. The roof was on the place when we bought it. All I know is it's a white, rubber roof. It has mold on the roof eaves and some on top. It's not extensive but it unsightly on the eaves and I don't want it to get out of control o...

Re: Electrical Wiring

Had a breaker arcing on the bus bar. Electrician replaced that but wan't interested in any of the other projects except installing ceiling fans. But he would only do it by running conduit on the walls and I don't want that. He didn't know if the pedestal could be hardwired or something better that t...

Re: Electrical Wiring

I am expecting that an electrician may not know mobile homes. Maybe I am naive in that regard.
That's why I asked the specific questions, so maybe I will be a little better informed when talking to him/her.

Re: Electrical Wiring

I do plan to hire an electrician. I'd just like some background on wiring mobile homes, ceilings and underbellies.
Thanks.

Electrical Wiring

I have overloaded circuits (breaker tripping when running dryer, AC and ironing) and free space in the breaker panel. Right now, I have a coffee pot, fan and one light on. The APC unit for this PC is tripping on/off and the readout shows 111 volts. I am thinking of hiring an electrician to run some ...

Light Fixture Cover

Are these covers still available anywhere? The junction box is where the black box is drawn onto the image. To replace the light, the box would have to be moved. Plus it's a pull chain light, the line is always hot so it would have to be rewired too. Don't want to get that involved. Thanks. http://i...

Re: Deck Skirting

Thanks for the input.
Installing doors would be problematic as I like the wide open space pulling the skirting out goves me.

Deck Skirting

Any better set ups for deck skirting?
I store gear under mine and it's difficult to get to. It's got a track on the top and bottom and the previous owner cut the skirting to slide it in the track. I't difficult to slide and allows animals to slip in.

Didn't think about replacing the cabinets. We'll have to look into that.
