dust safety

Hello i was wire brushing off some rust from the roof and got dust on my arms and hands and the next day i broke out in a rash and small blister's all over where the dust got on me and the bad part was i did not wear a dust mask and i woke up and had problems breathing and coughing up green stuff.The only thing i can think of is the silver roof coating on there it must have something in it that gave me a allergic reaction so please wear protective clothing and dust mask.
