Vent for ventalation

So while fixing my rafters and re-insulating the ceiling it occurred to me that there is only one roof vent on the roof for about forty feet of ceiling space. I was trying to figure out how these ceilings even vent. Its an older home, early 70's. There is no traditional venting as I know it as compared to a traditional stick built home. I was thinking to add three roof top vents. Thanks , Rick.

Since the early 70's we have learned a lot about ventilation and both the importance and how to make it work better.

I would do some planning and revamp it.
