With major remodeling and the desire to switch to standard material I have to wonder how much allowance is there for all the added weight ?
Real wood cabinets, hardwood floors, sheetrock, etc could add up to some serious poundage.
General question about weight

I'd say find out what type of floor structure you have. If it's OSB or plywood subflooring supported by 2X8s then I'd say you'll be fine. If the flooring is the cheaper and weaker particle board then you might have an issue. Maybe some members here have done similar updates and will chime in. Later!
