My large bedroom vinyl window is no longer spring loaded and is loose at the bottom if not all the way closed. I found some cheap looking pot metal parts laying on the window seal. This is from a 1998 Redmond. Is this something I can buy some parts for and rebuild or is the track shot?

Hi & welcome. I really can not say with out seeing the window. Are you talking about the opening assist or the latch? Can you post a picture or two??

Well I solved the problem and it might be a common one. Kinro Pivot Bar for Vinyl Windows that are sold by Magic Mobile home parts was the problem. I took 2 from the small bathroom window and fixed the bedroom until the new parts arrive.

There are many inherent problems with vinyl windows, but by far the most insidious is this once, this rip out and replace cycle begins, it continues for the remainder of the building's life.
