We are considering moving our 16x80 onto a basement. We would like to add onto the backside to double the width of the home, and have a full basement(30x76appx.) as well. Does anyone have experience with this? Or any thoughts or ideas would be great.
Thanks.

Hi & welcome. We get this question about once a year and YES it can and has been done. Someone here did do it a few years back.

Do a search for "basement" and it should take you to the threads. Greg

Hi,

Sylvia has several post about this plus photos. Her home was a doublewide, just added the basement.

My personal thoughts is this will be a spendy item to do, might be worth a look to see what a double wide cost in your area.

We priced one out about 4 years ago and they wanted $40,000 for the basement. That included the extra support beams, crane, everything. We have a double wide 24 X 58. We didn't think it was worth the money so opted for a breezeway attached garage with a storm shelter under the breezeway.
