I have a model EB17B that suddenly does not work, nothing... no heat or air. serial 950321273.

There is a digital thermostat that is new but as been working fine.

The AC outside does not come on.

The blower fan does not come on when set to "on" via the thermostat.

any help is greatly appreicated.

Hi,

Remove cover(s) of t-stat to reveal wires, turn t-stat to OFF and test across RC and Y and then across RC and G.


Test both sets for 24VAC.


IF there, reply back.


IF not, go to transformer in a/c control box and test primary-line side for 240VAC.

If there, test secondary-load side for 24VAC.

I did this, but, RC has no wire going to it.
wires are connected to:
W Y RH G
So i tested RC to Y and G - No current
So i tested RH to Y and G - No current

I do have a readout, and tested the batteries... they are good.

Jumpers are on 3 and 7
3 is RC-RH connected or RC-RH seperate..
7 is Electric Heat

IF not, go to transformer in a/c control box and test primary-line side for 240VAC.

Do you mean the box mounted on the furnace, that has a reen light on and a flashing red light?
Or, he 240 line outside beside the AC unit?


If there, test secondary-load side for 24VAC.
Where is this and how do i test it.

I do have a good meter. And can follow your instructs.

The owners says it has worked, since, the new t-stat was installed.



IF no wires are connected to RC, then RH and RC have to be jumpered to have a/c.
Jumber Number 3 is jumped RC - RH Connected.

Not sure about this, i am the neighbor, to this elderly woman.


With t-stat OFF, test for 24VAC across RH and W.
I did try RH and W - No voltage showed on either AC or DC setting.

Hi James,

Because of my busy and varying schedule, I do not make or receive calls.


I do keep laptop with me and check here and emails fairly regular.


Since it "has" worked, then the problem must be a sudden occurrence.

With t-stat set to OFF and AUTO, you should have 24VAC across RC and Y and also across RC and G.


IF you do not, then trace the red t-stat wire that is connected to RH back to furnace.

Where the t-stat wires enter furnace, find red wire and follow it through any connections with molex plugs, wire nuts, other wires and follow it all the way to the transformer.

Test the transformer primary-line side for 240vac and the secondary-load side for 24vac.
