Wiring a blower motor

I recently purchased a blower motor (Model Number 1468-120P) from your company and i have question.

The motor has 4 wires 1 red 1 orange and 2 blacks.

Now i know i have the red and orange wire in the correct spot on the molex plug.

Now my question is about the black wires.

I know which spot on the molex plug the black wires need to be,but does it make a difference which black wire goes where.

I have the black wires temporally sitting in the plug and everything seems to work okay,i'm just not sure if it makes a difference.
But still not running the furnance until i know if this is okay.

What is your blower assembly model number, should be stamped/printed on blower housing ?


If not, do you have a 15 hole/pin molex plug for blower motor wiring harness ?

And it has a 12 hole/pin molex plug.

Just remembered i had this picture i took.

This the inside of the electrical box screwed to the outside of the blower housing.



You can see the female molex plug for the male plug on the motor.

The blue wire in the plug needs a black wire from the motor.

The yellow wire in the plug has the red wire from the motor.

The white wire in the plug has the orange wire from the motor.

The black wire in the plug needs a black wire from the motor.

And the red wire in the plug is not used.

I hope all this is not to confusing.

Hi Louie,

BOTH black wires are to the motor high speed.

In some set ups, one is used for cooling and fan on continous and other is not used.

Another set up has both used, one for cooling and the other for heating.


I do not like using high speed for heating except where the furnace specs calls for it by design.

Your furnace shows heat using low speed for heat , so I would go with that .


Use black for cooling and fan continous coming from blower relay.

Use low speed for heat from sequencer.


Other black not used.


Trace the two blacks from motor to wires they connect to, then follow those and see if they go somewhere or terminate/dead-end.

If one goes to sequencer, I would change it from black/high connection to the low speed connection at molex connector.

It wouldn't matter which black was used and which was not as both go to same place.
