I was woke up early this morning by a squealing noise coming from the furnace, when i went to check i noticed you could hit the the blower housing a little bit and it would quite.
But you could still hear it doing it a little bit - sometimes barely, sometimes really loud and sometimes not at all.
I suspect the bearings in the blower motor are going bad, cause when the blower shut off i reached in and grabbed the shaft and it feels like it has a little bit of play up and down.
Does this sound like the problem?

Squealing noise from furnace
Hi Louie,
Possibly, but the motor shaft does have a little play in it.
Was motor hot and can you spin the wheel for several revolutions ?
Thanks,
Robert

Robert,
Sorry i have not gotten back sooner but have been very sick past few days.
Now as far as my problem,i did not pay attention to whether the motor was hot or not, and the fan seems to spin fairly easy. Never known for motors to have play in the bearings.
I have not had the same problem since it happened that one time.
So I'm not really sure what the problem was.
I'm thinking maybe i ought to buy the parts i need for backup just in case, the motor is working on 17 years old. So i guess i can't complain to much.
Can you give me a price on the parts i need, I'm guessing motor, cap, isolator kit.
If i buy a new molex plug for the motor can i push the wire pins into the plug with out having the special tool.
Sorry for the long post.

Hi Louie,
Sorry you've been sick, hope you're feeling better.
Do you have heat only or heat and a/c ?
By isolator kit, are you referring to the rubber bushings for the brackets feet ?
Thanks,
Robert
