Has anyone used a little sprayer to paint the inside of their shed? My shed is NASTY looking (inside) and I can't bear to install my nice washer and dryer in there. I want to paint the metal inside, the shelves, & studs. I have a nice piece of indoor/outdoor carpet to put on the floor. Any advice for me?

You could use a small airless sprayer, but remember to use a GOOD mask or respirator and you may want a fan at the door to push fresh air in.

Your better off grabbing a gallon of rust-oleum and brushing it on. You will get a better coat and it will be cheaper in the long run. A rattle can will over cover a 3 x 5 area, those $4 cans add up. Do a little more work now and you can enjoy it for a long time.

Thank you Greg and KL: I was thinking of getting one of those hand-held Wagner sprayers. I want to do it fast and have it dry fast.... like yesterday. hahahahaha. I saw my neighbor paint his whole house with one and it looked so easy. Since i painted my outside with latex, (roller and brush method) and it seemed to take forever, I wondered about the spray method...can i do that on the bare metal inside? I expect to use a primer. The idea of peeling paint scares me..... so, who else thinks i should use rustoleum?

Sorry, your title said 'spray paint' and I didn't read that you really meant a guntype sprayer...If your looking to spray I would stick to latex. Cleaning up oil-based is a painnn.

You should call around and see about rental prices on sprayers. A contractor type will spray a heck of a lot smoother, faster and easier than the cheap DIY wagners. I'd recommend Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3, love that stuff. Stick with an exterior paint as well, even though its on the inside of the shed the exterior paint will hold up better to the temperature fluctuations.

Nasty shed is painted. I will never do that again as long as I live. It took 6 hrs just to paint the primer on because of all the old wood that was exposed. I did that by hand as advised by someone at the paint counter. Then, with WagnerPlus airless sprayer filled with $5 mis-matched paint from HD, I, Woman Unstoppable, proceeded to wantonly spray paint all over in there !!!! I was like an uncaged tiger! And about the time I was done, I learned a few useful techniques, such as not to spray it on thickly. Thank goodness its just a dumb shed. The running drips add a nice texture to the walls. I practiced first on the place where the washer and dryer go.... but it took longer than that to get the hang of it... hahaha! so now I am hooked! After I get our taxes off, I'm hauling the old wicker off the front porch and give it a dose with my new play-toy! If I ever decide to paint anything serious with it- I will let you know. In the meantime, thanks for all the cool advice y'all gave me, tho I did invest in the el-cheapo sprayer ! but what the heck! At least the shed is better than it used to be. If the spirit moves me I will take some photos ! (don't hold your breath, tho.)
