i cant get AC UNIT TO WORK ON AUTO to even get it to come on i have to play with the ventalation switch it the blower comes on but then shuts off after 30 seconds after playing with it finally come on but will shut off when i switch it to auto the ac unit continues to run so i have too turn it off once home gets cool then retart it when it gets hot inside could it be the thermostat or do i need to shell out a couple hundred bucks for a new control board???

Hi, It sounds to me like its the thermostat. The easiest way to check that is to try and jump the a/c at the control board in the furnace and see if it comes on. If it does then i would start with a new stat.
