Coleman Presidential heater problem

I have a Coleman Presidential II ELECTRIC furnace.

When we turn the thermostat up, we can hear the furnace click on, and can hear a humming sound. The blower never starts up.

The hum continues, even when we turn the thermostat back down.

The blower was working until we changed the filter. The old filter seemed to catch on something when we pulled it out to replace it.

Note: This furnace had not been on since '03. We don't know if there was heat, because we didn't let the heater run long enough to heat up.

Please be specific in answers, or direct us to mechanical diagrams, as we know nothing about this machine.

Hi,

What is the furnace model number ?

Where was the filter located that you removed ? Where did you remove it from ?

Thanks,
Robert

Hi,Robert -- before I answer the questions (and I will get to finding that serial number):

Do you know of any companies that make heaters that can work with solar in a mobile home? Is anyone else on this forum discussing this?

And the filter we wound was in a slot above the blower, under a solid metal top --- but that seemed a bit weird....

Hi,

They discuss a lot of solar stuff in the Alternative Energy Forum.

Thanks,
Robert

FINALLY -- got the model number you requested above.

Coleman Central Electric Furnace (Presidential II)

Model number: 3118B750

There's an odd wiring set-up -- it's looks like a couple of them (including a grounding wire) are not connected (lower right hand side of the picture).

I hope these photos help.

Hi,

Please call toll free after 9 AM CST to 1-877-263-7860 and ask for Mark to order a Parts and Wiring Diagram for $15.00 if you don't have those.

That will show you the parts and wiring. The filter slides in at top and top should be open to filter and there should be a square cut out in wall above furnace with a grille over it.

The return air is pulled through the grille and down through the filter.

There are 3 disconnected wires, but unsure where they go w/o wiring diagram in front of me, pics were fuzzy up close.

Your sequencer controls the elements and blower in heat-auto mode.

Would need to know if it is getting 24vac to bottom terminals from t-stat.

Thanks,
Robert

Stupid question time:

What's a sequencer, and where is it?

What's a 24vac?

What's a t-stat?

Hi,

Sequencer controls timing operations of elements and blower and is in the back of control box.

24vac is 24 volts ac.

T-Stat is thermostat.

Time to call an hvac tech on this one.

Take care and best wishes,
Robert
