Help with my Coleman evcon furnace.

Postby Troy » Tue Nov 03, 2009 2:24 am

I recently purchased a newer home with a coleman evcon furnace. Its a Natural gas furnace everything works but it just does not put out heat like it should.

The model of the furnace is DGAT070BDC
The air coming out of the ducts is warm air and not hot like it should be.

any help will be greatly appreciated as they gave me a 1yr warranty on the furnace.
I asked them about it and they said as long as it works and puts out heat then it is working.

I might be wrong but I think this furnace should put out more heat then it does.

Also if someone knows on where I can get the right furnace filters for it. The ones that are in it does not cover the vent holes in the front covers.

Hi,

Take a temp reading of return air at the furnace return air grille.

Take another temp reading at closest supply register to the furnace.

Subtract first reading from second one to get temp rise.

Let me know what ya get.

Thanks,
Robert

The reading at the return air at the furnace is 53
The reading at the closest supply register is 82

The furnace warms up like it should then the fan comes on but only runs about 5 minutes at a time, then fan shuts off and the cycle starts over.

Be sure your filter is clean, a-coil if you have a/c is clean and all registers are opened and not covered or blocked.

IF any of that needed correcting, test the temps again. If all ok, go with what you tested first time.

Look on the data sticker or nameplate and you should see a temperature rise rating listed.

Compare to see if you are higher or lower than design temp rise rating listed for furnace.

Let me know what you have.

Thanks,
Robert

thanks for all of your help. The set temperature on the thermostat seems to never get to the set temperature. At night I put the thermostat on 80 degrees at night and it still is cold in my home.

The temperature rise says: 45-79 F

and the incoming air is 72 and the heat at the floor vent is 96

Was filter clean ?

A-Coil if you have a/c clean ?

ALL registers open and uncovered ?

IF so, check main burner orifice and spud for spider/web/clogs and clean out good.
