Replacing the base underneath a kitchen sink

After years of suffering through plumbing leaks, the particle board flooring could absorb no more water without sagging completely to the floor. So I decided it was time to just cut it out and replace it. Of course, the problem is that you have plumbing extending through the base that continues unde...

RE: Front Porch ideas

Wow, nice graphic response.

I think I can handle that. Now I need to get my materials list together and get a delivery truck out here so I can get started in this 90 degree heat!

I think we got cheated out of Spring.

RE: Front Porch ideas

Thanks for the post. Yeah, I've had a hard time adjusting to the new medication that my neurologist put me on and it has kept me for getting a lot done on this project when you sleep over 12 hours every day, but that is the price to be paid to stay seizure free. The good news is, that I have my driv...

Front Porch ideas

I'm looking for suggestions on how to build a roof for a front porch and marry it into the home. Here's what I am doing; This home is on a slope that is mostly rock and when it rains, water flows underneath the home. I want to divert the water flow and build a front/skirt to the home at the same tim...

RE: Laminate Flooring Question

We have laminate in quite a bit of the home here and it has worked out well in most cases. It is easy to install and much less costly than carpeting. We live in a warmer climate where a cooling bill is bigger than a heating bill. Good windows have a greater impact that does any difference in floorin...

RE: Textured Walls

I suspect that if you didn't thin the mixture down and your walls weren't very secure, the possibility would exist that it could crack. If you thin the mixture down as I describe, the texture goes on fairly thin and doesn't offer any reasonable chance for it to crack. Many of my walls weren't very s...

RE: Textured Walls

Thanks for the post. Internet video is certainly not my forte'. Hell, MH repair isn't really my specialty either. I'm just a sadly displaced bean counter. It's difficult to account for all of the considerations that each person's computer environment might be operating within, so I just make it and ...

At 24MB the file crashed when I tried to send it to Robin so I had to interrupt the send process. If anyone is able to go to the web site and successfully view the video, will they please let me know? Send an email to: jeff@tastyvenison.com Ps: if you are on a dial up connection, don't bother. RE: Textured Walls

Well, All I can say is that it works on my computer (but mine has all of those files on it) and it works on my wife's computer (and hers doesn't). It also works with Windows Media Player. It does take a long time to load because it is a large file. It works both with Mozilla and IE. Try going direct...

The sealer is called Zinser 123 and it comes in Latex and Oil based. We used the latex.

Home Depot has it for $17.97 per gallon.

RE: Textured Walls

Thanks, I've used this technique for ceilings a lot and I mix some white paint into the mud so I don't have to paint the ceiling after I am done. This home is the first time I have done it on a wall, thinning out the mixture. A friend of mine showed me the technique after I was trying to perform ano...

RE: Textured Walls

No, we peeled off the vinyl wall surface which created a whole other set of problems. When the vinyl surface came off, it left behind a surface of wallboard that had a "toilet tissue like" composition. My fear with this surface was that, like the vinyl surface, I would not get good adhesio...
