Hi Lisa, I too agree with the others replacing the drywall is certainly the better way to go I thought that you were set on covering the old and that is why I offered my advice on doing it that way I also feel the same as don if you use 1/2 inch you will be more satisfied 3/8 is pretty thin and will...

Yeah you gotta think about how much moisture is going to evaporate up from the ground. Now dont quote me on thins but the tarp material is probabally so the insulation can breathe so it doesn't rot and mold and the plastic is to keep moisture from reaching the floor joist and sub-floor and rotting t...

Looks like ya got a big mess there. The good thing is that you have wood siding instead of metal like mine. It should be a fairly simple fix. That doesn,t mean it,s not gonna be hard work though. Since you have ALOT of rot there I would remove any wallboard inside too floor to ceiling to replace the...

Hi,Lisa I think that if you do decide to rock over the origanal wall board you should use 1/4 or 3/8 inch dry-wall that way you wont have to extend your jams too much. Personally I would use the 3/8 it would be harder to run the screw all the way through it than the1/4 inch would.

This will then allow the new to go on without a bump. Also I would remove old ...

Usualy caulk doesn't stick to o.s.b. too well especially the edges I would trry just yanking tit off fast like a bandaid you shouldn't mess it up too bad. iIf it does end up tearing it all out then it probably needed to be replaced. I havent seen a pic but the o.s.b. shoudn't be the framing, just sh...

RE: siding prob.

If your window is leaking, and you have some damaged siding, that is most likely the cause. What you need to do is get up there, somehow, borrow a neighbors ladder or something. Remove the damaged and any loose siding after you do that inspect it for cracks and breaks. Now when you get ready to put ...
