Re: Underbelly repairs

Best way is to use "Flex Mend". It's available on the store's site. I prefer the 28" wide roll, but the smaller widths work fine as well. Just clean the area to be patched and dry it before applying the flex mend. You may also want to stuff some insulation in the areas being patched i...

Re: Shower install?

JD, Thanks for the info, I do plan to set the base in mortar just to be safe and help insure a lasting install. I don't want to have to redo this in a year because of a crack in the base! Can I run the new vent out through the exterior wall? Or would it have to go through the roof? I could run it ov...

Re: Shower install?

One more question... I can do away with the check vent the is under my current shower/tub setup correct?? If not I won't be able to install the big box store base as the vent comes up about 12 inches from the floor....

Re: Shower install?

The bathroom is actually pretty roomy so the 60 by 34 will be nice. I'm not really concerned with moving the drain, only that the drain location of the new unit could potentially sit right on top of a floor joist making it impossible to install without some serious reframing of the floor joists whic...

Re: Given a 1972 Regent..

I would say the smell is probably just in the carpet and padding, so ripping that out should take care of that. The water heater should not be too hard to tackle, just may be a bit of a pain due to the space constraints. The vent that leads to no where may have been a combustion intake tube for fres...

Re: Goodbye polybutalene, hello PEX + Manabloc :)

Thanks! I love it, even though I still installed shut offs at the fixtures, you can't have enough shut off options in my opinion lol... Next addition will be a watercop system for peace of mind... But that will have to be down the road a bit as I would rather spend what I have now to replace my old ...

Re: Shower install?

Greg, Thanks! That's what I thought... It's amazing how much more the "mobile" units are, guess that's supply and demand for you. Plus it will be nice not having a 10 inch step up into the unit. The space is only 54 inches, but one wall is just a false divider wall thaT separates the sink ...

Re: Shower install?

So, any reason I can't install a local big box store shower pan versus the mobile home specific ones? The cost and shipping is so much more on them....

Re: Shower install?

JD, thanks for the feedback. I was thinking flex may be an issue as well. I think I may wind up going with a 54 x 42 American bath pan, and just tile the walls. It will give a similar look with WAY less work and worry. I would love a curbless/doorless design, but that would just be too difficult and...

Shower install?

Just wondering if anyone has installed a custom shower in their mobile. I have been tossing around the idea of making a custom tiled shower pan, but not sure if it is possible in a mobile or practical. I have also thought about doing a curb less design with a grill drain at the threshold... Essentia...

Re: Complete remodel

I agree with Greg, best bet is to take it down to the studs and build it back up from there. Get it done right the first time, and you won't have to worry for a long time.

Some updates: New supply line to manifold and water heater http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc386/wuzzywig/Untitled.jpg New shut off valve with bleeder(nice to be able to actually shut the water off, old Qest gate valve did not completely shut the water off) http://i1209.photobucket.com/albums/cc...

Re: Complete remodel

I posted a thread on re piping my plumbing supply lines. I am going to post some more pics soon as I am just about done. If yours has polybutalene, usually grey pipes, then I would suggest doing a re pipe. If they are not leaking yet, it is only a matter of time with that stuff. You should be able t...

Re: water supply line

Keep an eye on that push fitting. The interior of PB pipe is bigger than PEX and the push fittings are designed for PEX. It may develop a leak, or potentially could blow off. Sharkbite makes a PB to PEX push fit coupling in half inch and 3/4... You really should get the adapter and then use a short ...
