Re: MH model year identification

Its possible that the framing was done in very late 1989, with the finishing up done in early 1990. The "Sailor Mfg" sticker is on the door jamb because that company actually holds the patent on that type of door hinge. Maybe it just wasnt removed in all this time.

Re: Cheapest house in town, My house.

Great idea using the hi-lift jack. Got to try that if/when I do another rehab project.

Re: 1969 mobile home renovation

Theres lots of products that can kill off the "pet smell". Odorxit, Natures Miracle, etc, they all work well. Whichever you choose will take care of the problem.

Re: sewer roof vent pipe

Youre getting "bubbled up" sinks and sewer gases in the home because the system isn't vented well enough. Add that vent back into the system for the drains to work properly, and to vent the sewer gases out of the home.

Re: Wiring question

If the wiring is in fact transport wiring(not sure):

Blue wire is for the electric brake control
Red wire is a fused lead(to fusebox)
White wire is the ground(completes the circuit)

If all the electric is working in the home, just leave it there. No point in messing with it.

Re: Bottom Sill

You can get a water leveling kit for around $25 at the parts page of this website. Will save you headaches later trying to level out your repairs. Remember to take your time, ask questions, and get "volunteer" help if you need it.

Re: Major floor issues, need options

Looks like that was cut out for some kind of service, then left exposed. What you could do is piece in some insulation, and brace a little "square" up underneath so you can service it again if necessary. Just stuff insulation into the "square" to keep the pipe/p-trap from freezin...

Re: New Gutter Installation Problem Need Help

If the installer won't back up his work, I would report him/her to the BBB. You have a right to leak free gutters!!!

Re: Major floor issues, need options

What kind of underbelly material is there(if any)? After you repair the floors, you can always make some kind of "blanket" out of loose insulation glued to a membrane if its missing or too damaged. Drag it under the home and tack it up off the ground. Ive even seen these "blankets&quo...

Re: Hi again everyone

Yes the "mobile home" switches are cheap junk. They actually "pinch" the bare wires behind the switch, rather than using the attached screw connectors on standard house switches. "Scotch-lock" connectors are similar, if youve ever seen them. Over time the wire will rub ...

Re: soft spots in floor

Tear out the old particle board, replace with new plywood. I would recommend 3/4" thickness if at all possible, for strength.

Re: Hi again everyone

Be VERY careful around your home's electrical. You can cause property damage(fire), and risk injury or death if you make a mistake. If you aren't 100% sure about what to do, its best to call in a pro.

Re: Pipes blew up, pex question

Had the exact problem on a mobile I worked on awhile back, only the pipes were hacked together PB. What we did was slit a straight line in the belly, pulled out the old wet insulation, and ran the pex right next to the old stuff. We just left the old stuff there rather than wrestling it out. It was ...
