Re: Roof seal in winter

I have used this stuff in somewhat damp conditions and it rained pretty soon after it was applied. We dried the roof area with a leaf blower and it actually sprinkling a little when applying. It stopped the leak and looked like it was a long lasting repair when I saw it the next week. I did use some...

Re: Vinyl U_channel for Hot water tank cover.

They make a plastic trim for those pebble grain FRP (fiberglass reinforced panel) used in bathrooms. The panels are"old school" like you would find in a gas station or seedy bar bathroom. Just ask someone in the lumber section for FRP panel trim.

Re: Deck Skirting

Here is another tip for vinyl skirting. The top trim is made with two parts, the one in back attached to the home and the front part that clips into the back part. They are usually call TTF & TTM, top trim female, top trim male. If you look at the TTM and the skirting panel at the corner, they a...

Re: Deck Skirting

I don't know of an end trim for standard vinyl skirting. I will use the bottom track (GC - Ground Channel) attached to the bottom of the home and to the pressure treated wood bottom plate (mud seal) of the home's skirting. If there is no mud seal, a pressure treated or redwood type stake will work j...

Re: Deck Skirting

Depending on how often you need to get in, installing this skirting properly and knowing how to open it up may be your best bet. First, all panels need to be connected. It looks like the installer tried to just overlap the skirting at the corner, which would allow animals access. There are different...

Re: Building a new deck

To get a permit you will need some type of plans. Usually simple "by hand" drawings are enough, provided you disclose the type of fasteners, wood and products being used. You can also use these links to come up with printed drawings. These drawings/plans will usually keep you within code i...

Re: Trimming batten strips

Your post tells me that your walls are painted. You may find getting nice corners on your door and window casings more challenging than the battens. In both instances, painter's caulk before the repaint can make you look like a Master Craftsman. One way to get nice corners on casing is first, be sur...

I am not aware of any replacement panels that are available that will not show a huge difference in texture. As Greg said, replacement of MH panels to gypboard is the most common.

Hear my band!

Here is a link to a Facebook video of my band playing at our benefit show for H.O.W. (Helping One Woman). We have added a percussionist and harmonica player. I am the acoustic guitar and back up vocals at the very end. That is not me in the choruses of the song. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=...

Re: Hot water TPR line routing

TPR lines usually just die off before they hit the ground but I don't think there is any problem with running out of the house. It probably should not be in front of steps or an area of high traffic. If I remember right, that is what the code says. Depending on the condition of the floor in the wate...
