Re: Coleman 7956-856 burner won't light
Sounds like good power at the valve when burning. Only other thing you might try is to hang a cheapy, snap action, heat only thermostat with about 10' of wire on it for a few days. You don't have to mount it permanently, drape the wire over a door in the hallway. If the furnace runs fine with no fau...

Re: Better to run this new motor on med or lo speed?
Been a mobile/manufactured home service guy for over 30 years, 21 my own business. Furnaces usually use low speed with no A-coil to push the air through. When air conditioning is added we usually have to bump the heat speed up to medium so there is plenty of air flow throughout the home.

Re: Better to run this new motor on med or lo speed?
I would go with medium for heat and high for the air conditioning. There should be wiring there for you to be able to set medium for heat speed and high for air conditioning speed.

Re: Insulation/plumbing questions
We use the encapsulated insulation for underside replacement/repairs. It breaths and you can pull the plastic to allow for stapling it up. As for going over or under the duct, You may find it easier to calculate to length of the insulation needed to go from one side of the home to the other, add abo...

How big is the home and do you have a split system air conditioner? Is the blower used for air conditioning as well as for heating?

Re: A deadly reminder to take gas leaks serious
On installs parks tell us we have to follow county codes for everything, gas, water, sewer, electrical, then in the next breath they tell us they will provide materials for the installation. Wire is undersized, there's no conduit for the wiring, they usually drop off a roll of 1/2" copper tubin...

Re: A deadly reminder to take gas leaks serious
There aren't any codes when it comes to "trailer" homes in the Chicagoland area. No specific guidelines are followed regarding set up, utility hook ups, exteriors, interiors, etc. Basically they wash their hands of it because the individual homeowners are not taxpayers in the towns. The pa...

Re: A deadly reminder to take gas leaks serious
The sad thing here is park management probably knew of the problem and ignored it. I see this a lot in many of the parks I do business in. Park owners don't want to spend any money and managers have their hands tied and are not allowed to get anything done without consent from the owners be it a sol...

Not sure what your plans are for flooring in the kitchen you have gutted, but it might not be a bad idea to deck over the entire floor area with either 5/8" or 3/4" plywood, CDX or BC, depending on final flooring material.

Re: Installing a new furnace ?
Sounds weird but electric furnaces are 100% efficient. All energy used to heat the elements and run the blower motor heats the home, nothing is lost up the flue like on a gas furnace. You could put a newer electric furnace in but it won't be anymore efficient than what you currently have. A old 17KW...

Re: releveling dw project
You mentioned the floor looked pretty good along the marriage line. I would run some additional blocking along the marriage line before starting, maybe even check the lag bolts along it as well. This is where the home will be "hinging" while you are leveling it out. We always set one half ...

Re: Crown molding Angles
Greg I did a lot of them when I was setting doubles years ago. Just can't remember the tilt angle of the saw to create the compound angle. YES really helpful to practice with some scraps.

If on a slab like most homes in my area, the edges of the slab can and will heave. Slabs will flex a bit before they crack.

Re: Crown molding Angles
The biggest thing to remember is you have to "flip" the moulding to get the angles right. A compound miter saw is really helpful. Picture the base of the saw as the ceiling and the fence as the wall. That creates the "flip" I speak of. There is usually about a 5-10 degree compoun...
