RE: Leaking front door/0sb on floor rotting
I agree about replacing the door. I dont think there is anything wrong with the door itself. The water damage IS at the cornerthreshhold and I see no damage at the top of the door or the sides. It looks like the water came in from the bottom corner of the door and onto the osb board. I am not going ...

RE: Leaking front door/0sb on floor rotting
Thanks Guys, You are all right! No, it is not "some" floor, just vinyl sheet and NOT that much. He was just not trustworthy. Yes, there must be someone somewhere in Houston. I am still looking. In fact, I am going to fire the creep now!!! Thanks for your quick reply. Rosemary

Leaking front door/0sb on floor rotting
I removed carpet in living room and found an area of rotten osb board on floor. The front door is apparently leaking around bottom of door. Construction repairman came over, did not even examine door and told me that the entire door (storm door he said was $300.00) would have to be replaced. He neve...

Mounting outdoor lighting
I have the original cheap, plastic light fixtures on the exterior of my mh. It appears that they have been glued. I dont see any screws. How do I go about mounting new ones? If I screw them into the siding is there wood or drywall behind the siding that will secure them? Thanks, Rosemary

water streaming behind gutters
It seems that when it rains that water is streaming behing my gutters and flowing straight onto my windows. Does that mean that I need to place sealant into those spaces? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, Rosemary

Am I paying too much for insurance?
I have a 960 sq. ft, 2 bd, 2 bth, year 2000 single wide mobile home with a detached garage on nearly 0.5 acre. I have a policy with an A+ rated agency. I pay a bit over $1000.00 per year for insurance. I live on the border of Houston, Tx. Am I paying too much? I shopped around and others were even m...

RE: Urine smell under house/ registers
Thank you all for the replies. I tried some of them but it has not killed the odor. The urine is actually from rats that have been going underneath the house. They have urinated on the vapor barrier/ concrete slab and have marked around their entrance. I will keep trying to rid them and the odor. Ro...

Urine smell under house/ registers
I had to replace parts of skirting after hurricane IKE. I can smell urine beneath the home (concrete slab) and now notice it coming from 2 of my floor registers. I think I may have rats under there as I saw some insulation shredded. I know I need to get the critters out but what about the smell on t...

RE: Can osb boards on floor be sealed and stained?
Thanks MH friends,
I did remove hallway and one bathroom carpet and painted with one coat of deck/porch paint from Behr. I actually like it just fine however, I think I will smooth some seams and dents out with the Bondo that someone else recommended and re-paint. Rosemary

Dont have any vents but the skirting has holes from poor weed-eating skills. Does that count??? (joke) Thanks for your help. Rosemary

Wow, great idea with the screened door. Never thought of that. When you say need vent space in summer, are you saying that I need to open part of the skirting every summer to air out? Will one opening do or should I have one in front and one in back? Thanks again, Rosemary

RE: a/c drain disconnected, draining on slab
Thanks again Robert, I had the drain repaired today. There is water sitting on the cement slab. The repairman assured me that the water would dry up. Will it indeed dry up if it is under the home before mold starts growing? It's awfully dark and sealed up under there. Rosemary

RE: a/c drain disconnected, draining on slab
Robert, I really appreciate all of your advice and time spent answering my questions. Fortunately, my A/C IS running cold, I inadvertently switched it to heat (Spazo). Anyway, so far I cannot find anyone willing to come and do the work that will also take care of the drainage below my home and deal ...
