RE: Replace front door frame
I would tend to agree with the others, Unless there was a problem starting before the awning was installed I would doubt it is rotted. Make sure everything is caulked, clean up the mold and keep an eye on it. Greg

Moonie, It really does not look bad at all, it is avalable in different colors. There is also cement skirting out there, a little too expensive for me. Greg

A half a block closer to wally world? that alone should be worth a buck or two for saved gas!! Buying a home and moving is ALWAYS going to stress you out, just try to keep everything in perspective. Go with what you like. Greg

I guess I would ask why would you want to risk a MAJOR problem? How hard is it to run the electrical in a different location? Greg

RE: What kind of tape?
They do make an outside plastic for storms, I would have my doubts as to how much help it would be. Add the wind factor trying to blow it off or at the very least make it flap and I don't think I would do it my self. Greg

RE: Installing Water Softener.
Jim, the problem in a mobile is usually space, as you know there usually is not a lot of it. I think that if it is setup & works well in the shed I would leave it there. I am not sure if it is a pro or DYI job. Greg

Willow, After Yanita gets you through the computer end, it will be time to get into the home end. I always say to PLAN for the worst and HOPE for the best. that said I would plan on replacing the window & frame. Since I don't know what type of siding & interior wall you are working with I ca...

RE: 1973 Mobile home purchase?
Hi & welcome to the family. As Yanita said, Mark's book is a must. I agree it looks to well kept. Any remodeling should be started with checking to be sure the home is level. This is done with a water level on the frame. Check the floors for any soft spots, and look close at the roof for cracks,...

RE: Ceramic Tile, Skylight and Spackle?
Hi Willow, welcome to the family. I installed an opening Velux sky light in our living room 15 years ago. I can not say it has been 100% trouble free, but the few drips that I have had were caused by cracks in the sealer as JD said. Personally I would not be afraid to do it, but do it right, do not ...

Unless you want to use an a/c unit in one room I could not see a reason (other than sound proofing) to insulate an interior wall. Greg

RE: Settling??
It all depends on the ground under the home, if you are on rock it may never settle, clay on the other hand... There are tell tale signs such as doors & windows that just don't open or close right among others. Remember that you cannot check for level with a bubble level. it is best to use a wat...

RE: Help With New Counter Tops
Be very careful if you are thinking about recovering your counters with new formica, it is HARD to work with. I have always had problems with the adhisive holding and it is very hard to make clean smooth cuts. Is the front edge square or rounded? I have done two tiled counter tops they are actually ...
