RE: Fireplace Question.

Hi, not to be the bearer of bad news but the fireplace that you have is strictly meant for gas. In order to burn wood you would have to change out the stack as wood burns much hotter, you would also have to have a wood burning insert installed. I am not sure if you would need to get the conversion c...

RE: Roof

Hello Furball, Yes the old shingles will have to come off before the new shingles can be put on. Also when they remove the old shingles it is a good time to check the roof for water damage and repair any damaged areas, and when they install new shingles it is a good idea to have ice shield put down ...

RE: replacing a fireplace

Hello Yankee. Having a wood stove is great, however like all are saying IT MUST BE MH APPROVED,and it must be WETT certified(at least here in Alberta). This is one job that if you do go this route is best left to the pros. Even doing an insert again leave it to the pros. I have talked to the people ...

Here in Canada(Alberta) the insurance company is responsible for the repair of the damaged areas but not the actual part that caused the damage. the reason i can tell you this is my neighbour across the road just went through this and like so many out here h...

RE: underbelly material

Hi farmer1, believe it or not you can use a silo tarp or the same tarps that you cover your hay bales to repair the belly. The other things that you will need is 1- spray adhesive to attach tarp to old material 2- staple gun to attach tarp to floor joists on side away from duct line 3- tarp tape and...

RE: Backer for gas log stove

Hi diasbox, I would insulate the frame with Roxsul insulation(not 100% sure on the spelling) as it does not burn. the other thing that you can do is to use durarock(concrete board) as a backing to the stainless or alumimum sheet and this will not allow the heat to pass through to the rear of the fra...

RE: Backer for gas log stove

Hi diasbox,
you could use a alumimum sheet or stainless mounted on a frame that would be set behind your stove on a angle to reflect the heat back into the room. think of a portable room divider but use metal instead of cloth.

Hi,
JMO. If I had done the job it would not be complete until it was closed in or back to where it was before the repairs began.

RE: Warped frame

Hi bobbq, This is just my opinion and what i have seen in my years of hauling these homes, and as such i would ask that you consult a lawyer for the legal issues involved. Yes a warped frame rail can be repaired. However and this is where things will get complicated if you have the frame repaired and...
