How To Replace Window Glass Payne??

We have some four payne, mobile home aluminum frame, jalosy crank out type windows. The individual glass paynes have some kind of aluminum trim about 3/4" wide that appears to hold the glass payne in the individual window frames. Some of the glass paynes are cracked and need to be replaced. Is ...

Reccomendation for New RV Roof Mount Air Conditioner?

Our 1989 8' x 35' Hy Line brand RV park model trailer has a Coleman brand, roof mounted AC, and it is time for replacement. The only numbers I can find on the unit is: model # 67590707 and serial # 128807307. The AC breaker is 20 amp and the wiring is 12 gauge so I am guessing the existing AC unit i...

Re: Older Home Smells Musty :( HELP!

My experience with strong musty odors is many are caused by mold and mildew in the carpet/pad, walls, floor, or ceiling. My sinuses react immediately to such strong odors in a confined space. Mold and mildew frequently occurs where rain water has leaked into the home, where a water line or fixture o...

Re: Leak Around Sliding Glass Door?

Thanks for all of the replies, ideas, and suggestions. The camp area had a hard rain yesterday afternoon so I may now be able to tell if my efforts did get the leak sealed and the problem solved or not. We plan to go back tomorrow to check for damp or wet carpet around the sliding glass door. If it ...

Re: Leak Around Sliding Glass Door?

I did not mention it before but this home has a roof over installed that overhangs 12" on the sides so hopefully a roof leak is not possible. Today I rechecked and recleaned the bottom track and found two possible leak spots. The first possible leak spot is a screw hole in the bottom track the ...

Leak Around Sliding Glass Door?

I have a 1989 Hy Line 35' park model trailer that has a sliding glass front door and there is a leak somewhere. Recent heavy rains left the floor and carpet wet on the door handle side. The sliding door seems to close and seal up well, the frame seems to be sealed well with the putty tape behind the...

Musty Odor Removal/Elimination??

In many older mobiles and RV's there is a stale, musty, offensive odor that I am assuming is an odor of mold and mildew from moisture being trapped inside or possibly an unknown leak whereas there is some damp/wet wood, carpet, insulation, etc.. If there is a leak with damp/wet wood, insulation, car...

Wood Rot/Decay & Mold Repair??

I found an old leak around a small door opening under the bed area of our RV park model and the wood framing and floor around the area is wet, rotted/decayed, etc. and the odor of mold & mildew is very strong. I intend to cut out and replace as much of the decayed wood as I can and permanently c...

Best Caulk for Sealing Exterior Seams??

We have an older park model trailer (1989) and some of the exterior sheet metal seams have cracked with age and movement. I want to go over the entire unit and caulk/seal everything to prevent leaks. What is the best type of caulk to use for such an application? We are in Florida where there can be ...

Re: How To Jack/Block/Level Up A 38' Park Model?

Thanks for all of the replies and information. Just for clarification, my question is about the technical aspect of how is the best way to jack up, block, and level the trailer. My concern is this being an older RV park model trailer (1989), I don't want to excessively bend/flex the trailer during t...

Re: How To Jack/Block/Level Up A 38' Park Model?

The trailer is being placed on private property and there is no permit or inspection required, no code, etc. Just want to do a good job and not cause myself any problems, leaks, etc.

Re: How To Jack/Block/Level Up A 38' Park Model?

I am in Central Florida so frozen ground is not an issue. Most mobile homes I have seen have been blocked using a 4" thick by 16" square concrete pad and 8"x16" concrete blocks, and 1x6 or 2x6 boards between the frame and concrete block. I am not sure why, but many have the concr...

How To Jack/Block/Level Up A 38' Park Model?

First post. What is the proper way to jack up and raise, block up, and level an older (1989) 38 foot park model RV trailer for a permanent installation? I have seen it done three ways. 1) lower tongue jack as low as possible raising the rear of the trailer, block the rear of the trailer, raise tongu...
