Re: We have a new owner!

Awesome upgrade to the forum's. One suggestion is to have a sub-forum for "before's" and "after's". It would be great to have a central section for people to showcase improvements they've made! Also, mobilehomeliving.org is another great site focused on mobile homes, perhaps some kind of awareness e...

Re: Pricing a mobile home for sale

A first step you could try is using zillow.com. You can filter out by property type (which includes mobile homes), as well as recently sold by as little as 1 month to 3 years. It's not going to be 100% accurate, but it's a start. I'd also look at your property tax assessments and that will give you ...

Re: Mobile Home Insurance

I just got insurance through Foremost. I got a $500K liability, $45k personal property, and $85K replacement policy for $550 a year. not bad.

Also, I'm in Central California, not prime quake country but we still get a few shakers now and then :-).

reflective roll insulation for roofing

So I was talking a walk in the park in live in, and I happened to notice what looked like reflective bubble wrap insulation was used as roofing on one unit. I took a few minutes to look as best I could and it sure looks like it to me, then walked a bit more and found another unit with the same stuff...

Laying down new subfloor

Hey all, I'm planning some major remodeling this coming summer and spending the coming months getting my logistics together. I have a early '70's double wide that's it pretty decent shape. The sub floor is particle board and although it isn't rotten, the age of it is making it flexible, not bad, but...

Re: What is Best thickness of laminate flooring for double w

I put down cheaper laminate in my kitchen. I had to replace some of the plywood because of flexing (there was particle board before, it wasn't rotted, just old and began to flex to much. My floor it still *slightly* flexible in some areas, and this had become a problem. The slight flexing has caused...

To level or not to level?

So my double wide is a '71 and I'm pretty sure it's been in the same space since it was new. I don't know if it's ever been leveled, but if it was it's clear its been many years since. I'm curious, at this point, since i have some squeaky spots and a few doors that aren't quite plum, since it's been...

Re: Photos too big

Here's a quick and easy way way to get the size of your pics down. If you have an iphone you can email the pics to yourself and it should ask you what size you want to send, just choose "small" or "medium" and you should be go to go. I want to post before & afters from my phone, but all photos too b...

Re: Bought and older double wide - Kitchen needed a refresh!

Ya, I've kinda noticed alot of units from late 60's early 70's have pretty much same floorplan. My unit was built in '71 I think. Like you I want to completely gut the kitchen and start from studs. I want to remove all the cabinets on the stove/fridge side and open it up to the living room and move ...

Bought and older double wide - Kitchen needed a refresh!

Howdy gang, New member here, and new owner of a mobile home. Bought it and moved in more out of necessity but now that I've been in it for about 6 months, I really like it and will probably stay for quite a while :-). This old unit had good bones but needed some refreshing. The cabinets really need ...
