RE: Building Plenum
Robert is right about seeking advice. I researched on mine for 2 months learning and reading. Just when I thought I had enough knowledge to begin I would run into another snag. I finally went to the local AC supply house and just talked with them and showed them my plans on paper. I got so lucky the...

RE: Mods: Need a sticky
I know that I was comparing apples to oranges (electricity to HVAC) but if you read there site why no DIY you will understand what I was getting at.

RE: Mods: Need a sticky
I have recently been doing alot of research on HVAC because I love DIY. Hence how I found you guys. The HVAC Talk is all about everthing you want to know about AC. But and it is a big but (NO DIY) absolutely. (Period) It is mainly for them to talk amongst themselves. Most of the them are very nice w...

RE: Underbelly
I had a bathtub leak several years ago and had to cut out a 10X6 section of underbelly and insulation. Repaired leak and left underbelly open for about a month to air out. This was during the winter and there was a tremendous difference on how cold the floor was after cutting that section out. I am ...

These guys have been good help here because there is not alot of info out there on mobile home duct work. One thing is that if there is ever a critter problem flex duc...

RE: To vent or not to vent
Thanks for the reply JD All my ceilings are cathedrial type. I have talked to a few builders of stick built homes and they said they simply left the decking out from underneath the overlayed gable so it would have air movement. Mine is fairly large and definately could trap alot of heat in there if ...

RE: Duct Replacement
On this particular style of MH I have cross braces welded between the I beam main frame about every 10ft apart(angle iron). The current rectangle duct is between the welded angle iron and the floor joists. I guess the angle iron is for extra support and it also helps hold up all the insulation and v...

To vent or not to vent
Hello guys and gals. In my double wide I have a gable type roof that is right above my front door but does not extend beyond the roof edge. My front door is not recessed like other DW mobile homes. This gable roof is running opposite of the gable (lenght wise) of the mobile home. Does this make sens...

RE: Duct Replacement
Yes sir you are right but hopefully this will eliminate from having to cut it from one end to the other on both halves. I guess just alot of smaller holes. Thanks for the input. I sure wish there was a way to put round back up into the underbelly because falling below it sure is going to cut down on...

RE: Window Frame repair how to
I had a devil of a time replacing mine. The local glass shop had some replacements but they were not exactly the same. Please be very careful because I broke a glass while replacing those little plastic buggers. Mine held the frame togather. Best to leave to the professionals.

RE: Duct Replacement
Thank you Robert for your response. Please bear with me because I want to make the right choice on what to do, and not to have to do this twice. So, you have seen this done, run new round ductwork under the underbelly if freezing is not a problem? I do not plan on replacing the furnace since it is o...

RE: Duct Replacement
Upon more inspection with the old trusty mirror and flashlight (as you guys suggested) found holes at the end of each trinkline. I new something was going on because the air did not flow from the vents as it did when the trailer was new. These holes had to be made by mice because the holes are perfe...

RE: How do I shorten my shower head/pipes?
When I installed a new shower I intentionally raised my shower head above, so that I would not have to cut the new surround. Then I added a longer down pipe and a different style (Longer Type) shower head. Works Great!

RE: Metal Roof
What got this started is that 5 years ago we had a hail storm and I had the original white shingles replaced with darker shingles. It was during the summer and when I walked into the house the day they replaced them, I knew something was wrong. It was much warmer in the house and the AC was running ...
