Getting ready to tape and texture walls and was told by a Home Depot employee that paper tape is less likely to crack, Any truth to that?????

I am going to chime in but not with an answer but with an added question, how does one determine if your home will withstand the additional weight of a roof over? I am thinking in the furture for my home.

I have the cheap original kitchen cabinets in my kitchen that are the hardboard covered with the wood grain paper. The woodgrain paper is peeling off in places. I would like to paint them but the paint dept at Lowes said that if you paint over this type of cabinet that the paint ends up with bubbles...
