it's particleboard... my dh is in the process of taking down the interior walls. he's checking behind each piece of insulation to see what's going on and did find one sheet of osb at one of the corners in the front bedroom. we're thinking like someone here said there was a bad repair of the front do...

it is a sw 2002 liberty. would osb disintegrate from water? by the front door its just gone you see the siding and no house wrap..after removing insulation. ive asked my husband 10x "are you sure it's not osb" he is a decent DIY'er. we've layed floors, replaced windows, doors, knocked down...

are you saying that new sheetrock taped with mesh and compound will eventually crack?
yes, we are replacing floor throughout with solid prefinished hardwood.
can i run a bead of caulk before taping?

so we closed yesterday on this property. i have gone back and forth deciding whether to remove and replace or trying to mud under batten.. this is vinyl covered sheetrock, what do most people do? after removing batten strips and seeing it isn't two factory edges like in my current home i want to tea...

and underneath the sheetrock is not factory edge to be mudded? how does one do this and not create a hump with tape and joint compound?

thanks for the answers. we have decided to take out walls and replace with 1/2.

we are not in the home yet.
