RE: soundproofing again...

Aaron, Thank you. this "floating wall" really sounds like a solution and I will move the shared power box - friend is an electrian. I will float the master bedroom wall and leave my son's wall alone. TV will not be mounted to the wall - a lot of reading and learned and learned and learned....

RE: soundproofing again...

On the list is to change the doors to solid and putting an insulated vent in them. My ex is an oil burner tech and he told me what I could and couldn't do regarding the furnace. It is important to know about that because you can really screw up your system if you do not know what you are doing. I wa...

RE: soundproofing again...

Something is better than nothing right? What does BTDT mean? I just feel that I have to do something. Hard or easy - at least I can try. Muffle/reduced volume - not much else am I expecting, but I have to try. I'm going to measure the panels tonight and see how many sheets I am going to need. I have...

RE: soundproofing again...

I just have 1 wall between my son's room and mine. I just need to put something between there to deaden/muffle what we can hear from each other. I'm not talking a home theater surround sound blasting just voices/tvs/guitar :) I mean he can hear my humidifier humming! It is close to the wall we are t...

RE: soundproofing again...

Hi and Thanks for responding. The reason is because my son and I share a wall and if I drop a tissue in my room he hears it. Sorry, but if his tv is on even low I can hear it as if I am in the same room. I do not understand the manufactures of these homes... No privacy. I looked at homes that had th...

soundproofing again...

Hi, over a year of son in headphones, him hearing our tv, us hearing his tv. Him hearing ... Ummmmmm you get my drift. He is getting older and I want my privacy. I've read a lot here and although there isn't much hope, it isn't like I am trying to quiet a home theater, just ummmmm!! :) What I know: ...

RE: Bathroom floor repair

We successfully replaced part of the subfloor in the master bathroom, leveled the floor, backer board and tiled in our 11 year old doublewide. The subfloor is key to everything else. We added additional supports under the toilet area, around the floor vent and right outside the shower stall. GOOD LU...

RE: Our reno progress in and out

Faux finish - I ragged on. Primed like crazy to cover the flowered wallboard! 2 coats of a light - dry - 3 parts glaze to 1 part paint a medium of the slightly different hue. I went over parts after they got a little sticky. I picked up a small can of a darker shade of the 2nd color to add a little ...

Our reno prgress in and out

Hi All! I've been lurking and finally wanted to post again. I'm still frustrated by the lack of sound proofing in my double wide, but have come to love our new to us home (bought in Nov 07). Spring is almost here and I can see the fruits of someone else's labor watching all the spring bulbs come to ...

Cold air coming from tub

Hi all, by this 2nd post you can tell I am working in the bathroom! New floor going in, painting this weekend. While I was down on hands and knees, observing the yucky green carpet that covers the plywood boxing in my tub I felt a very cold draft... put my hand up and over the carpet and plywood and...

Mirrors in bathroom

Hi, I have a 97 Tital Birchwood doublewide. I have 2 large mirrors in my master bath. I suspect there was once a 3rd by the large yellowish glue like stain on a wall. I am getting ready to paint and I don't know if I can remove the mirrors or not. The frames of the mirrors are the same chair rail tr...

Sound/privacy issue

I am a very happy new owner to a 10 year old doublewide. The bedrooms are three clustered on one end and we have a serious sound/privacy issue. My solution is not "headphones" for the children LOL! I was thinking of putting insulation in the walls that face the two kid's rooms. Soundproofi...
