Loud knocking under home

We have a 1995 Palm Harbor doublewide in NE Texas. Every once in a while we will hear a knocking sound under the house. Like a loud, rhythmic knock, like you would knock on someone's door. It happens day or night, and different parts of the house. It happens during the winter and the summer, and it ...

Renovation materials and weight

Hi guys, appreciate any insight you have. I have 1995 Palm Harbor doublewide. We're looking at doing some remodeling, but I wasn't sure if there are limitations. I do plan on going through all of the projects that have been posted here to get info. But one of the things I would like to do is replace...

Mold in corners and along center beam

Hi guys, I'm hoping maybe someone can shed some light on this. We have noticed that there are small patches of mold growing in some of the corners of the ceiling; around the center "column" in the kitchen (it has cabinets and a recessed area for the microwave, and it is attached to the pas...

Puppy tore out ducts, now thermostat not working?

Bear with me, I am an emotional mess over this right now. Monday night, we came home, and the house was warmer than usual. There was cold AC air blowing from some vents, not others. We realized that the air was coming in on one side of the house (doublewide, so two halves) and the other half of the ...

Re: Need help again friends - Septic Tank

I know those feels. I have had much trouble with my septic issues. I also live outside the city limits, which means I can't connect to sewer, but I also am outside a lot of regulations. If you are looking for someone to call, a lot of places that pump septic tanks also service the fields, or they mi...

Re: leaking hot water heater, desperate for help!

Thanks for all of the feedback and advice, after a lot of mulling it over we're just going to get another electric tank this weekend. I'll be so happy to be able to run the dishwasher again :)

Re: leaking hot water heater, desperate for help!

I've attached a picture of the tank. Sorry it's not the best. The best way I can think to describe it is that the nipple? area where the pipes attached is ever so slightly recessed, and there is maybe a black gasket between this area and the body of the tank itself. Basically, there is enough space ...

leaking hot water heater, desperate for help!

Hi guys, hoping you can help I noticed water leaking from the wall and I come to find out that the water heater is leaking. The water was leaking from behind the thermostat panels, so I turned off the water to the house and the electric, and I read that a lot of times the lower heating element fails...

Consequences of an overflowing toilet...

Backstory: My inlaws live with us. They use the secondary bathroom at the end of the hall. The toilet overflowed, and they did not tell us (we never use their bathroom). Bathroom has carpet. Family's idea of cleaning up the water is throwing down some sheets/blankets to mop up the water. So this hap...

Re: standing water in leach field

After a personal inspection, I don't really see standing water, but it does look muddy in places. There is a nice blanket of leaves covering the area, and I'm wondering, could these be acting as a mulch, keeping the water in the ground? I do plan on raking it all up to see, but thought I'd post my u...

standing water in leach field

There is standing water in our leach field. The ground is super saturated, and it's so muddy that my husband cannot mow back there. Also, there is a lovely odor. Any ideas of what could be causing this? We have had record amounts of rainfall, I don't know if that will affect the evaporation, or if t...

Replacing the stems in the shower

Hello! I am needing to replace the shower stems in the shower stall in the master bath. I have a Palm Harbor Home from 1995. Is this going to be one of those parts that I won't be able to find at a hardware store? I haven't yet pulled it out to identify which brand, just thought that maybe all of yo...
